환경과학 행위주체성 함양을 위한 데이터 기반 탐구프로그램 개발

본 연구의 목적은 환경과학 행위주체성을 함양하기 위한 데이터 기반 탐구프로그램을 개발하고 적용하여, 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 환경과학 행위주체성에 영향을 미치는 요소와 데이터 기반 탐구 모형을 고찰하여 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램의 단계는 ‘도입-탐색-실행-평가-확장’으로, 환경 문제와 관련하여 탐구 문제를 설정하고 실제적 데이터를 수집하여 분석한 후, 탐구 결과를 공동체와 공유하도록 구성하였으며 이를 서울에 위치한 고등학교 1학년 6명의 학생에게 적용하였다. 연구 결과 학생들은 프로그램 탐구를 수행하면서 환경과학 및 데이터 분석 관련 지식을 능동적으로 습득해 나가고 각자 자신 있는 전문 영역을 형성하여 책임 있는 역할을 맡는 모습을 보였다. 탐구 문제와 관련된 환경 문제를 자신에게 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중요한 문제로 인식하고 문제를 해결하기 위한 친환경적 행동을 해야겠다고 생각하게 되었다. 여기에 그치지 않고 실제적 데이터를 근거로 한 탐구 결과를 공유하는 것이 중요한 과정이며 공동체의 변화를 이끌어내는 토대가 될 수 있다는 것을 깨닫게 되었다. 환경과학 행위주체성 함양에 영향을 미친 프로그램의 중요 요소는 ‘환경 문제와 관련된 탐구 주제 설정’, ‘실제적 데이터 분석’, ‘참 탐구에 가까운 개방형 탐구’이었다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합해보면, 학생들의 환경과학 행위주체성을 함양하는 데 본 연구에서 개발한 데이터 기반 탐구프로그램이 긍정적 역할을 할 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 미래 사회 핵심역량인 행위주체성을 함양할 수 있는 데이터 기반 탐구프로그램을 제안하고 현장 적용가능성을 확인하였으며, 환경과학 행위주체성을 포착할 수 있는 행위를 규명하였다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다. This study aimed to develop and apply a data-based inquiry program to foster environmental science agency (ESA) and verify its effectiveness. This study developed an authentic data driven inquiry program focused on environmental issues. The program consisted of activities such as setting inquiry problems, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and sharing the research with other community members. The program was applied to 6 Grade-10 students for 10 sessions. This study led to four conclusions. First, students actively developed the science content and inquiry related to environmental science and data science. Second, students positioned themselves by taking on specific roles and identifying themselves as having expertise in specific areas such as science inquiry or data analysis. Third, students recognized the environmental problem related to the research problem as an important problem that could affect them personally. Fourth, by grasping meaningful data, students recognized themselves as actors of environmental problems. The key process of the program that impacted ESA were ‘setting research topics for environmental issues’, ‘using authentic data’, and ‘open inquiry close to authentic science’. This study is significant in that it proposed a data-based inquiry program that can develop agency, a core competency of future society, confirmed the possibility of field application, and identified behaviors that can capture agency in environmental science.
