The quarterly magazine “Korean Bungei” was launched in 1975 as a magazine introducing Korean literature in Japanese. Over 300 Korean short stories, poems, essays, etc. were introduced, but research on this magazine is almost nonexistent in both Japan and South Korea. Jeon Oksuk, the publisher and editor of “Korean Bungei” was a big name in the cultural world in South Korea. She played the role of a bridge between Japan and South Korea. One of the representative figures who introduced Korean literature to Japan was the writer Kenji Nakagami. It was through “Korean Bungei” that Nakagami discovered the charm of Korean literature. With Jeon Oksuk's mediation, he met directly with writers whose works were published in “Korean Bungei” and published their works in Japan. He also created the beginning of the “Korean-Japanese Literature Symposium.” Based on the historical background of the late 1970s to the mid-1980s when “Korean Bungei” was published, This paper mainly examines the significance of the publication of “Korean Bungei” in the subsequent Japan-Korea cultural exchange.
