The purpose of this study was to analyze the current Physical Science textbook (chemical domain) of millde school in Korea, the United States, and Japan. The results of thin study were as follows: 1. The common goals of Physical Science textbook for the three contries are comprehension, inquiry and attitude. But there are some difference. In case of the American textbook seeks to intellectual course and scientific thechnology, while Japanese textbook subdivide the goals of science education into many spheres. 2. The analysis of the Physical Science texbook (chemical domain) with reference to Romey's analytic scheme that the contents, pictures·tables, the question of chapter of textbook for the three contries were so authoritive that students are not required to do inquire learning. 3. For the composition of the textbook, the Physical Science textbook of the United States and japan were better qualified thant that of Korea with respect to experiment, study excercises, and study of Applying science. 4. There are the difference between the difficulty level of the textbook and students' cognitive development level. That is, while most of middle school students were still at concrete operational and transitional level in cognitive developmental stage, the Physical science textbook (chemical domain) carried the difficult contents which require student's formal operational level. 5. The textbook of the United States and Japan were better in quality than those of Korea in terms of quality of paper, printing plate, and bookblinding, etc.
