This study was conducted to examine the changing picture of persecutors in schizophrenic delusion during the past ten years(1980-1982 and 1990-1992). Materials were sampled from 240 schizophrenic patients with persecutory delusion, who had been admitted to Hanyang University Hospital in the two periods ; from June 1980 to May 1982 and from June 1990 to May 1992. During the past ten years, the frequency of police, secret agent, army and political character were decreased, whereas the frequency of unidentified person was increased. On the other hand, the frequency of supernatural beings or religious leaders was increased in female schizophrenics. The persecutor's behaviors in their delusion were changed from serious acts to milder one. The above changes were attributed to the recent socio-political changes in Korea in terms of ‘democratization’.
