The tundish is necessary to separate impurities (slag) from the molten steel and to keep the steel to be cast pure in continuous casting (CC) process. The tundish also serves as a storage vessel for the molten steel during a ladle change in order not interrupt the casting process. Therefore, understanding of the arrangement of the flow control devices (i.e. baffles, dams, weirs and so on) and thus its effect to the flow pattern of the molten steel within the tundish is basic and essential parts of accomplishing the highest cleanliness of the steel. In this study, a 1/3 reduced tundish water model with four arrangements of flow control devices within the tundish was used to simulate and compare the characteristics of corresponding molten steel flow behaviors in prototype.

The cost structure of the CGAM system, a predefined cogeneration system suggested to unify the different<br/> methodologies of thermoeconomic analysis, was investigated by using a thermoeconomic method called<br/> MOPSA(Modified Productive Structure Analysis). An emphasis has been specially put on how the cost<br/> structure of the system is affected by the chosen level of aggregation that specifies the subsystems. It has<br/> been found that the unit cost of products is dependent on the chosen level of aggregation of the system only<br/> when one consider the negentropy flow as one of the parameters to determine the unit cost of products.
압축비 조절기구가 부착된 단기통 디젤엔진에 대한 BDF의 적용

An experimental study on engine performance parameters and emission gas characteristics for bio-diesel fuels (BDF`s) was performed by using of a specific engine; the type of single-cylinder, four-stroke, water-cooled diesel engine with variable compression ratio adjustment mechanism (the model Farryman A 30 marine, TQ, UK). Specific fuel consumptions (SFC) and soot tendency (smoke %) for various fuel and/or operation conditions were also examined. The BDF`s used were prepared BD 20 and BD 100 together with the commercial diesel fuel (DF) for reference. The established conditions for experiment were 12:1, 14:1, 16:1 and 18:1 for compression ratio (CR), and 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 rpm for engine speed. It was found that SFC of BDF`s is increased 1.3~3.7% compared with DF according to the rpm`s; for the smoke %, BDF`s value is reduced significantly up to max. 45.7 % in comparison to that of DF; and while NOx is increased amazingly up to max. 38%, which is too much than the previous results of around 12.0 %. Also, it does not seem that the engine`s power output remains changed significantly according to the fuels used.
대학교수 직무발명에서 논문발표나 대회출품으로 인한 개시 제한 문제점 연구

Korea has the patent law regulating the terms of the novelty of inventions like other countries. If all elements of disclosed objects are the same as(or similar to) those of applied claims, the secrecy of the application of the above applied claims is considered to be cracked, the result of which is the failure of patent acquisition. However if the his(or her) self disclosure time is no later than 1 year before the his(or her) self filing time, his(or her) self application could be accepted to be valid on the premise that any other people should not interfere with the application before the filing time. This situation is very dangerous in terms of secrecy keeping. Anybody is willing to(or is ready to) interfere with the application no later than 1 year before his(or her) self filing time. In other words, the destiny of the applicant is at stake of anybody`s arbitrary decisions. Therefore professors should not disclose employee inventions(service inventions) in the public such as thesis papers or conference materials before the notification of their employers` OK decisions within four months of the date of employees` reports. Furthermore until the arrival of their employers` OK decisions should professors not file their applications. If professors` filing actions before their employers` OK decisions would be detected, professors could become criminals. Accordingly, for example, professors can not apply for students` invention contests together with their fellow students. Co-works by a professor and his(or her) fellow students could become the clues of the intents of employee inventions(service inventions) disclosures, which are crimes in Korea.

This study is related to the suppression for flow-induced vibration occurred in a circular cylinder among the fluid flow (airstream) by using different types of flexible sheet. With free-vibration tests, the characteristics of the vibration was experimented on the circular cylinder with flexible sheet attached, and the dependency of suppressibility on the flow velocity was also determined. The optimal values in length and width of the different sheets, including various shapes of triangle and strip types, and the vibration suppression mechanism and its effect were investigated with varying the suppressor's dimensions in various patterns; the lengths are in the range of 0.5~3D, where D is the cylinder diameter. As results, successful works have been achieved concerning the suppression mechanism of the vibration, the optimal shapes and sizes of various suppressors and its suppression effect, which have not been known up to now.
승용차용 세라믹 촉매 담체의 열적 내구성의 실험적 평가

Ceramic honeycomb structures have performed successfully as catalyst supports for meeting hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitrous emissions standards for gasoline-powered vehicles. Three-way catalyst converter has to withstand high temperature and thermal stress due to pressure fluctuations and vibrations. Thermal stress constitutes a major portion of the total stress which the ceramic catalyst support experiences in service. In this study, temperature distribution was measured at ceramic catalyst supports. Thermal durability was evaluated by power series dynamic fatigue damage model. Radial temperature gradient was higher than axial temperature gradient. Thermal stresses depended on direction of elastic modulus. Axial stresses are higher than tangential stresses. Tangential and axial stresses remained below thermal fatigue threshold in all engine operation ranges.
