Grains contain bioactive components that potentially have protective effects on chronic diseases such as diabetes. The anti-diabetic effects of blended grain ethanol extract (BGE) were evaluated in streptozotocin–nicotinamide (STZ–NA)-induced diabetic rats. BGE was prepared by mixing oat, sorghum, adzuki bean, finger millet, and proso millet (30:30:15:15:10). The rats were assigned into four groups, normal control, diabetic model control (DM), STZ–NA rats administered 200 mg/kg body weight (bw) of metformin, and STZ–NA rats administered 500 mg/kg bw of BGE (BGE). After 6 weeks of administration, the homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (12%) in BGE decreased compared to DM. Strikingly, the fasting blood glucose (23%) and oral glucose tolerance test (15%) were improved in BGE compared to DM. BGE also increased insulin immunoreactivities in pancreatic β-cells. In sum, BGE exhibits anti-hyperglycemic effects by improving fasting glucose levels and insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells in the STZ–NA-induced diabetic rats.
휴대전화의 사용자 인터페이스 신기술 특성 및 신기술 UI 수용과 관련한 사회적 요인이 소비자 이용행태에 미치는 영향 -TAM 중심으로-

In mobile phone service market place, users' perception on convenience and usefulness has been emerging as an increasingly important factor, as vendors are offering newer and improved user interfaces. Notably, voice recognition and touch interfaces are found intrinsically appealing to consumers who would make buying decisions based on their experience. Additionally, social factors (social rule, word of mouth, advertisement, gender, income, and social position) also seem to be affecting consumer purchasing behavior. This research probes the effects of such factors on the usefulness, easiness and intention of consumers from the perspective of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Results shows that user interface in general significantly affects purchase decision which is also a function of social rule such as user consensus, word of mouth, or advertisement on the usefulness of new technology, contributing to consumer recognition of the technology as convenient and useful and potentially playing an significant role in mobile phone purchase. However, social position turned out to deliver negligible effect while age did otherwise: young population is prone to be more active in adopting the new technology. Futhermore, consumers desiring higher value service tend to value user experience, which would subsequently motivate them to adopt mobile phones with new user interface. The usage pattern might offer managerial implications as to product-position or market predictions to mobile phone companies undergoing diverse and fast-paced changes. 휴대전화 서비스에서 보다 편리하고 유용한 사용자 경험(User Experience)이 매우 중요한 요소로 부각되고 있으며, 다양한 형태의 사용자 인터페이스(User Interface) 신기술이 개발되고 있다. 현재 사용성 향상을 위해 음성인식, 터치 인터페이스 등과 같은 신기술들이 꾸준히 개발되고 있는데, 이는 소비자에게유용한 기능으로써 인지되어 제품 선택 시 중요한 요소로 작용할 것이다. 또한 신기술 특성과 함께 사회적규범, 구전, 광고 및 사회적 지위 등 다양한 사회적 요인들이 소비자 구매행태에 유의한 영향을 미칠 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 요인들이 기술수용모형(TAM: Technology Acceptance Model)과 결합하여 소비자의 지각된 유용성, 용이성 및 사용의도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 실증 연구하였다. 연구결과, 소비자는 신기술 기반의 휴대전화 사용자 인터페이스가 편리하고 유용한 기술이라고 인지하고 있었다. 또한 사회규범상신기술의 유용성에 대한 공감 및 구전이나 광고 등도 사용자 이용의도에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 이는 휴대전화 구매 시 하나의 중요한 선택 요소로 작용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 소비자의 휴대폰 이용행태연구를 통해 빠르게 변화하는 휴대전화 산업에 있어서 향후 기업의 제품 Positioning 전략이나 시장예측 등에 유익한 시사점을 제시하고 있다.
명태(Theragra chalcogramma) 이석 내 산소동위원소 조성과 서식 수온 특성

Oxygen isotopic composition (d18O) of walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma, otoliths were measured to investigate interannual and regional correlation with habitat temperature. Specimens were collected from fishermen in Korea and Japan between 1997~1999, while seawater temperatures were obtained from Korean and Japanese Oceanographic Data Centers. Seawater temperature was generally lower off the eastern Korean Peninsula than off eastern Hokkaido (Japan). Sagittal otoliths were removed for measurement of d18O using a micro-drilling technique. In most cases, d18O and habitat temperature exhibited negative relationship in Korean and Japanese waters. Higher d18O was observed in Korean pollock compared to Japanese pollock. The marginal parts of otoliths exhibited higher d18O than cores from both regions. This is an indication that somatic growth of walleye pollock occurs in deeper and cooler waters. Interannual variation in d18O was also observed. Mean d18O values acquired from 1997 otoliths were lower (2.15‰) than those of 1998 (2.67‰) and 1999 (2.65‰) in Korean pollock. These measurements coincided with changes in observed temperature in Korean waters, in which mean seawater temperature was warmer in 1997 than in 1998 and 1999. In Japanese waters, mean seawater temperature was lowest in 1997, which coincided with highest d18O values in the same year.
