Vehicular safety and occupant injury have been of considerable interest to the public. The dynamic response of articulated vehicle is different from that of single body vehicle, due to their geometric and inertia properties. Articulated vehicle have the tendence to jackknife, if loses driving safety. Influence of factors for driving safety of articulated vehicle (Tractor-Semitrailers) has been executed by the EDVTS that is the kinetic analysis program of articulated vehicle. EDVTS permits the analyst to investigate the effect of the many variables in short periods of time and be able to obtain on accurate explanation of driving safety. The factors for analysis were used the load, friction coefficient, tire flat, the increasement of braking force, and trailer geometry. From results, the articulation angle and driving safety were influenced remarkably by the load, coefficient of friction, the increasement of braking force. But trailer geometry, such as length and width didn't influence on articulation angle and driving safety.
SUV 차량의 충돌 속도와 보행자 전도 거리의 상관관계에 관한 연구

Pedestrian fatalities account for about 38.7% of all traffic accident fatalities in Korea. Because the road evidence that indicates collision point is rare in pedestrian accident, investigation of pedestrian accident is more difficult than that of car to car collision. The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m. there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed.
