A new roll forming process that can produce automotive parts with linearly variable symmetric U-type cross-sections has been developed. The forming rolls have been designed by a 3D CAD system and have been analyzed by a 3D FEM Software. The designed forming rolls were machined by a 5-axis CNC milling machine and experimental roll forming operation has been carried out. The analytical and experimental results were satisfactory. It has been found that the developed roll forming process can be an efficient method to produce high strength steel automotive parts with variable cross-sections.
Linear Coons Interpolation을 이용한 SEAM 요소의 디프드로잉 탄소성 유한요소 해석

In the present study, using the linear Coons interpolation SEAM(Shear Energy Augmented Membrane) elements have been developed. Linear Coons interpolation is used to calculated the transverse shear strain of a base element between the adjacent elements and the base element. Maintaining the numerical efficiency of conventional membrane elements, the effect of out-of-plane deformation(transverse shear deformation at element edge) has been incorporated for the purpose of computational stabilization without introducing additional degrees of freedom. From the circular, square, and rhombic blanks, computations are carried out for the deep drawings of square cup to check the validity and the effectiveness of proposed SEAM elements. For the square and rhombic blank, experiments are carried out and the computational results are compared with the experimental results.
