구조물의 내진설계는 탄성설계방법으로 시작되었으나 최근 내진설계에서는 구조물의 비선형 거동과 붕괴를 고려할 수 있는 경제적인 설계의 필요성이 제기되었으며 기존의 강도설계 개념보다 구조물의 성능에 근거한 성능설계 개념의 설계법에 대한 필요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 도시철도 지중구조물의 내진성능 보강을 위하여 새롭게 개발된 복합판을 이용한 연성보강 시스템에 대한 보강효과 검증을 위하여 지중구조물에 대한 보강전후의 내진성능을 평가하여야 하므로 실제규모의 모형 구조물을 이용한 내진성능평가 실험을 계획하였으나 실험실 규모 등의 제약조건으로 인하여 대형 지중구조물에 대한 정확한 성능평가 실험을 수행할 수 없었으며 기존의 실험결과와 이론적인 접근을 이용하여 근사화된 성능실험을 수행하였다. Earthquake resisting design of the urban rail underground structures have been developed on the theory of elasticity; however, but recently raised the need for the nonlinear behavior of the structure and cost-effective design method based on the performance of structure, so that the performance design concept of the design method has emerged. In order to verify the effectiveness of the strengthening system full-size experimental for the underground structure were planed. Due to the constraints of laboratory full-size experiment was unable to perform. Therefore, the approximate performance experiments were carried out using the existing experimental results and theoretical approach. Existing experimental results were compared with experimental results were validated by the experimental results of the E-Defence.

The occurrence rate of the earthquake more than magnitude 5 has been increased since 1990 and the damage of the Odaesan earthquake, 2007 was serious. Due to that, one may say that Korea is not any more safe for the earthquake. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare strategies for possible damage due to strong earthquakes in future. This study is to focus to develop the retrofitting system for the cut and cuver tunnels built without earthquake type load scenario, so that it can provide the safety of existing urban subway system against earthquakes.

Since occurrence and magnitude of the earthquake in Korea has increasing recently, the safety of public facilities such as underground subway stations and opencut tunnels. Especially, the open cut tunnel section has not been designed to resist the earthquake loads. Therefore, it is needed to investigate the performance of the open cut tunnel against earthquake loads. In this study, linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses with soil-structure interaction have been performed over the several representative open cut tunnel sections to evaluate the structural performance and damages. As a result of analyses, damage distribution of the open cut sections and collapse mechanism were obtained. Results and observations of this study will be used in preliminary design of retrofitting system for damaged structures.
