In this study, the flow characteristics of a butterfly valve has been researched with opening angle. flowrate, operation pressure. closed angles, and blockage ratio.<br/> To examine the flow characteristics of the butterfly vavle. K(loss coefficient) and Cq(flow coefficient) with each experimental condition<br/> has been obtained with different closed angles and blockage ratios of the butterf1y valve. The angle of fully open state was defined as 0deg.<br/> When the closed angle is less than 10deg.. loss coefficent K starts changing near 70deg. and f10w coefficient Cq increase with closed angle. Perforate plate has the bigger value of K than that of the blockage ratio of the same size

This experimental study is to investigate the intermittent spray characteristics of a multi-hole nozzle in a heavy-duty DI diesel engine<br/> It has a 2-spring nozzle holder. and its hole number is 5 (dn = O.32mm). By using the 2-D PDPA(phase Doppler particle analyzer). the droplet diameter and velocity of the diesel spray injected intermittently from the multi and single-hole nozzle into the still ambient were measured<br/> To analyze the intermittent characteristics. the time-window of O.15ms were applied to this study. In the spray. the small droplet(D(lO ㎛) was regarded as a air flow. and the intermittent characteristics of the fuel drop]et(lO㎛<D<500㎛ ) and the air flow were examined. The normalized axial droplet-air relative velocity of the 5 hole and the single hole nozzle is 0.13 and 0.113 respectively.
