Morphing System를 활용한 폰트 디자인에 관한 연구

오늘날 현대디자인에 있어서 폰트의 기능을 디자인 결과물 뿐만 아니라 디자인 인어적인 막강한 힘을 지니고 있다. 폰트(Font)^(1))는 우리말로는 글자체 또는 문자로 해석되는데 흔히 `타입(Type)`, `타이포그래피 (Typography)`, `폰트(Font)` 라는 용어를 확실한 구별 없이 모두 같은 `문자`라는 의미로 사용할 때가 많다. 일반적으로 글자 하나하나를 가리킬 때는 `타입`이라 하며, 다른 글자와 구별되는 그 글자의 특별한 형태, 즉 글자꼴을 `폰트` 또는 `타입페이스(Typeface)`라고 하고, 같은 스타일의 글자라고 하더라도 다양한 크기 및 굵기, 기울기를 갖고 있는 글자들을 모두 이야기할 때는 `타입 패밀리(Type Family)`라고 한다. 이러한 모든 의미의 글자와 글자가 위치한 공간, 레이아웃된 모양 등 글자로 디자인(Designing with Typ e)된 상태 및 과정 모두를 폭넓게 `타이포그래피`라고 한다. 본 연구에서는 디자이너의 폰트 개발에 있어서 보조적인 수단으로 합리적인 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 가설을 전제로 접근하였다. 첫째: 영화의 특수효과에 적용되는 이미지전환기법인 몰핑(Morphing)을 폰트에 적용하면 중간형태의 다양한 문자 군을 얻을 수 있다. 둘째: 몰핑(Morphing)의 이미지 전환기법인 (Warping)에 의해 두 이미지사이의 새로운 이미지를 만들어 내므로 폰트 디자인에도 적용 가능하다. 따라서, 몰핑시스템을 이용한 폰트 개발은 최 소한의 시간으로 다양한 문자 군을 얻을 수 있음으로써 그 가치가있다 하겠다. 이것은 대응하는 두 글자를 정량적으로 혼합하는 과정에서 얻어지는데 대응하는 문자의 두께와 높이 기울기 형태의 변화가 클수록 다양한 변화를 얻는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터시스템과 몰핑(Morphing)를 이용한 폰트개발에 관한 기초연구이다. Nowadays, A function of Font has a powerful effect not only for design outputs but design communication. A terminology of font called `Type`, `Typography`, and `Font` is often used as a meaning of a letter or a character with no certain distinction. Terminology of Type. Font or Typefaces, and Type family represents below. Type: a meaning of each individual letter character Font of Typeface: a meaning of all type of a single design Type family: a meaning of the collection of faces that were designed together and intended to be used together. Typography means designing with Type such as typeface identification and classification, type sizes, type measurement, type weight, type formand posture, line measure, line spacing, word spacing, letter spacing, tracking, and kerning. Therefore this research pres ents logical method as auxiliary device in developing font by designers. This study approa ches such hypothesis explained below as prerequisite. Importance of profound researches for the digital motion graphic content industry, This study will not only analyze the procedures of producing infrastructure environments as well as digital motion graphic contents, but also present the current problems of digital contents and improvement methods to apply to activate the various productions of digital motion graphic contents.
