Here we report the investigation of gluconeogenic genes expression in oliseed plants during development of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cotyledons. First, we looked at the ICL, gMDH and PCK genes expression which are related to glyoxylate cycle and gluconeogenesis in cucumber germination. Cucumber cotyledon development classified to three stages: germination, growth and senescence. Germination of cucumber shows unique metabolic mobilization of reserved lipids to sugars for establishment of post-germinative growth just before the photo autotropic growth. Senescence appears as the final development in cotyledon too. The genes are also expressed in the final senescence development. We looked at the genes expression through the RT-PCR approach. As the results, ICL and PCK genes were expressed both germination and leaf senescence but gMDH is not for sure.
