      • Brewster Angle Microscope로 살핀 Langmuir 막의 표면 Morphology

        The surface morphology of Langmuir film has been investigated by using Brewster Angle Microscope(BAM). The dependence of the reflectance on the Langmuir film thickness has been theoretically studied and applied to the measurement of relative thickness of monolayer and one or two stacked bilayer on top of monolayer at the air-water interface. We found that the BAM technique is powerful tool to Investigate the optical anisotropy in the texture of Palmitic acid monolaver.

        황련이 Lipopolysaccharide를 처리한 치주인대세포의 세포활성 및 IL-6 생산에 미치는 영향

        In infectious disease, invasion of host tissue by bacteria or their products frequently induces a wide variety of inflammatory and immunopathologic reaction. Evidence indicates that cytokines are involved in the initiation and progression of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as periodontitis. Interleukin-6, which is a multifunctional cytokine, has important roles in acute and chronic inflammation and may also be implicated in bone resorption. Periodontal diseases are characterized by chronic inflammation of the periodontium with alveolar bone resoption. A principal driving force behind this response appears to lie in the immune system's response to bacteria. Many of the cell components which have been shown to function as virulence factors in gram-negative bacteria are associated with the bacterial surface. Of these, lipopolysaccharide has been characterized as one that mediates a number of biological activities which can lead to the destruction of host tissue. Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug is used for reduce inflammation, and most of NSAIDs inhibit prostaglandine $E_2$ production, but it is shown that $PGE_2$ production is stimulated by IL-1 in recent study. So, the influence of other cytokines except $PGE_2$ on periodontium can not be avoided. Therefore, new antiinflammatory drug is needed. Rhizoma coptidis is used in oriental medicine for anti-inflammation and antiseptics. In this present study, we examined the IL-6 release in periodontal ligament cells treated with the lipopolysaccharide, and also the effect of rhizoma coptidis on cellular activity and IL-6 production of periodontal ligament cells. To evaluate the effect of rhizoma coptidis on cellular activity, the cells were seeded at a cell density of $1{\times}10^4$ cells/well in 24-well culture plates. After one day incubation, 1-6, 10-9 and 10-12 g/ml of rhizoma coptidis and 5, $10{\mu}g/ml$ of LPS were added to the each well and incubated for 1 and 2 days, respectively. Then, MTT assay were carried out. To evaluate the effect of rhizoma coptidis on IL-6 production, the cells were seeded at a cell density of $1.5{\times}10^4$ cells/well in 24-well culture plates. After one day incubation, 10-9 g/ml of rhizoma coptidis and 5, $10{\mu}g/ml$ of LPS were added to the each well and incubated for 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours. Then, amounts of IL-6 production is measured by IL-6 ELISA kit used. The results were as follows : 1. Rhizoma coptidisrbelow to ($10^{-6}g/ml$) significantly increaed cellular activity of periodontal ligament cells than control. 2. Rhizoma coptidist ($10^{-9}g/ml$) significantly increased cellular activity of LPS($5{\mu}g/ml$)-treated periodontal ligament cells than control. 3. LPS(5 and $10{\mu}g/ml$) significantly increased IL-6 production of periodontal ligament cells than control. 4. Rhizoma coptidis($10^{-9}g/ml$) decreased IL-6 production of LPS ($5{\mu}g/ml$)-treated periodontal.ligarnent cells than LPS only tested group. These findings suggest that stimulation of the IL-6 release of periodontal ligament cells by LPS may have a role in the progression of inflammation and alveolar bone resoption in periodontal disease, and that inhibition of the IL-6 release of cells and stimulation of cellular activity by rhizoma coptidis may help the periodontal regeneration.

      • 청소년들의 진로지도를 위한 고찰

        가을이 되면서부터 자신의 진로문제로 상담하러 오는 학생들이 부쩍 늘고 있다. 이러한 일은 학급지도교수와는 관계없이 찾아오므로하여 요즈음 대학생들의 고민이 심각한 지경에 있음을 알 수가 있다. 그러나 상담을 하면서 느끼는 것은 현재 대학내 에 있는 학생생활연구소나 취업지도 부서에 과학적이고 체계적으로 지도해 주어야할 전문지도요원이 절실히 요구되고 있다는 것이다. 그들이 요구하는 상담내용을 크게 나누어 보면 취업문제는 물론 이성문제. 성격문제, 장래문제에 이르기까지 다양하여 지도의 한계를 느끼지 않을 수 없다. 본 고찰에서는 진로지도의 개략과 직업선택상식. 채용전망을 살펴 보고자 한다.

        The Software which uses object-oriented method has the advantage of extensibility, independence and easy maintenance, but has the disadvantage of decrease of system performance. Object-oriented software provides parallel process of objects, and then to improve of system performance we categorize objects into active and passive ones and then use active one. Therefore we implement active and passive objects with object-oriented language, propose multi threaded programming method using thread library for real time process.

      • PS 콘크리트 구조물 해석을 위한 크리프 특성에 관한 연구

        During the initial design phases for prestressed concrete structures, the necessary information concerning the physical properties of the hardened concrete such as creep, drying shrinkage, modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio and coefficient of thermal expansion are obtained from design assumptions, accepted design criteria or formula calculations. Although these values are based upon sound engineering logic or standard recommended practice of design, they may not totally reflect the actual long-term behaviour of the concrete. As a result, these assumptions may be of limited use in predicting the actual long-term behavior of the concrete under conditions of actual design loads during periods of change in temperature, load or pressure. For these reasons, the creep test has generally conducted under simulated laboratory conditions of anticipated design loading and temperature environments in order to provide a realistic basis for comparing the original design assumptions with the actual measured long-term physical properties of the concrete. Extensive research has been carried out a comprehensive laboratory investigation of the effects of age, curing history, temperature of environment and constant creep loading upon the physical properties of given concrete mix to predict the long-term creep coefficient and shrinkage. This paper presents specific creep values with various types of experimental data and also shows comparisons for specific creep between from test results and from creep prediction equations to evaluate the applicability of creep prediction equations of Korean Concrete Standard Specification, ACI-209, CEB/FIP-90 and Japanese Concrete Standard Specification.

        We measured the enhanced second harmonic intensity from the Langmuir-Blodgett film using resonant excitation of surface plasmon. We found that the frequency doubled intensity scattered from the region in the silver/film/air surface goes to its maximum when the incident angle reaches the resonance value The enhancement of second harmonic intensity was theoretically discussed with the local field factors for the attenuated total reflection scheme.

        자유흐름온도와 대류열전달계수를 동시에 측정할 수 있는 방법에 대한 실험적 연구

        This paper deals with the development of a new method that can obtain the heat transfer coefficient and the reference free stream temperature simultaneously. The method is experimentally verified through comparison with results in convective heat transfer experiments of a circular impinging jet using two narrow-band TLCs. The general method described in this paper is highly recommended to many heat transfer models with the unknown or ambiguous free stream temperature.
