The information about the pedestrians can be used for the base data of city construction. Especially, the pedestrian data is one of the most important things of trade-area analysis. However, the way of collecting the pedestrian data is still rough, in other words it is still counting over by people manually. In the end, the pedestrian data is hard to keep updating and the reliability of data is low. Hence, this study suggests the pedestrian data collection method using the ubiquitous streetlight. The streetlight is one of the basic urban infrastructures and if the streetlight which is applied the ubiquitous technologies is used for the urban monitoring devices; it can collect the pedestrian data in more detail. For those things, this study makes a feasibility experiment about collecting pedestrian data and using it with the ubiquitous streetlight as an urban monitoring device and also analyzes/verifies it through developing prototype system.

This study is to focus on finding problems of interactive contemporary architecture envelopes as urban space and solve them. After Le Corbusier's Dom-ino theory, the envelopes of the structures are now composing an attractive consideration as they grew into a free element without being restricted by the structure itself. However, this phenomenon is staying as brining only the entertaining element, namely signboards, into relief and forcing one-way communications to the external observers as well as the internal users. In case of previous studies, that only introduce about examples of interactive building envelopes. Therefore, objective study is insufficient. Thus, on the basis of domestic cases, we did survey on 30 people in 7 different places and interviewed them individually which were 210 people in total. Survey was composed of 3 topics; Natural features, recognition, variety and harmony with the urban space. After the survey, how two buildings and public facilities were compared in different conditions by selecting a different assessment of the differences appear to proceed further by an analysis of whether the location and size, affect on whether there is a difference in the building also investigated. A mutual complementary cooperation was applied with advantages and disadvantages of each Interactive architecture envelopes to complement the current problems.

This study focuses on comparative study of the representation of ‘traditionality’ in Asian hotel guest rooms. Hotel can be a concentration of the country"s culture and tradition and provide unique experience to guests through its space, decoration, and material. However, most hotels in Korea are lack of a strong identity based on the Korean culture and tradition, due to adoptation of the western hotel styles without any criticism. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression methods of the traditionality in Asian hotel guest rooms to provide design guideline to enhance identity of hotel guest rooms in Korea. Through analysis of the previous researches, criteria of the three design application methods and the five design elements were defined to analyze the representation of the traditonality. Design application methods were categorized as “Original form”, “Partial adoption”, and “Metaphor”. Five design elements include “Shape”, “Material”, “Color”, “Object”, and “Pattern”. Thirty nine Asian hotels containing the traditional design elements were explored in the study. In result, design application methods in Korea used all three methods equally, while other Asian countries used mainly the Partial adoption and Metaphor methods to express their traditions rather than the Original form method. All five deign elements were mostly used in case of the Original form methods, and two or three elements among five elements were used for the Partial adoption and Metaphor methods. The traditional representation of hotel guest rooms in Korea, reflecting current thinking, living pattern and culture, will be a solution for the new hotel design as well as elevation of Korea’s status to a higher level.

The purpose of this study is analysis of Ando Tadao"s five urban and suburban residential spaces. To observe each residential spaces, we set representative standard such as site, space program, and main space elements. At this point, we intensively analyze how site affect to space program and how space program affect to main space elements-sight, circulation and light. After this, we look into what is in common and what is in different.

There are regularly planned overhaul periods in thermal power plants, which involve the maintenance of the boiler of the power plants. However, thermal power plants workers are always exposed to risk during overhaul periods owing to the narrow space and significant dust inside the boiler. Therefore, it is essential to develop a safety monitoring system that is suitable for operating in this type of environment. In this study, we developed not only a worker three-dimensional (3D)-location monitoring system that can monitor and record the entry/exit of workers, their 3D-location, and fall accidents but also a method to secure the working environment and operation efficiency. This system comprises of a worker tag, which was equipped with an inertial measurement unit, a barometric pressure sensor, and a Bluetooth low energy (BLE), and the tags were given to each worker. In addition, the location of workers inside the boiler was measured using a pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) method and BLE beacons. The location data of the workers tag were transmitted to the integrated database (DB) server through a gateway, and to the administrator monitoring system. The performance of the system was demonstrated inside an actual thermal power plant boiler, and the accuracy and reliability of the system were verified through a number of repeated tests. These results provide insights on designing a new system for monitoring enclosed spaces.
인트라넷을 이용한 건축설계사무소의 경험지식 활용 방안 연구

Most intranet systems in domestic major architectural design offices are mainly used as administrative tools. It is very important in architectural design to share knowledge. Especially, sharing the knowledge from experiences is critical in this area. Hence, it is vital to establish a Lessons-Learned System that enables sharing of the experience-based knowledge. However, it is estimated that building such system will cost enormous number of try-and-errors as many decisions are to be made prior to implementation. This study begins with analysis on the intranet systems that are currently used in domestic major architectural design offices, followed by proposing the feasibilities and conceptual ideas on the system implementation by surveys and interviews on the actual users of the system. This study is to be used as a fundamental source material for the knowledge management system that is to be developed in the future.

The user interface (UI) is everything designed into an information device with which a human being may interact. The user interface enables a human being to acquire and understand information in course of interactions with digital devices in ubiquitous environment. Particularly, due to the rising number of the public information kiosks on the street, the need of efficient UI design have been increased more than ever before. However, most of the existing urban kiosks have web page-style UI without the consideration of the types of displays, locations, users, and services. Therefore, this research introduces UI design methodologies of the urban kiosk for public information service and demonstrates its application by the development of “Ubiquitous Intelligent Light, as a case project. Research methods are, firstly, the ubiquitous intelligent streetlight is defined, secondly, the design method for graphic user interfaces is presented, thirdly, service scenarios are set, lastly, graphic user interface for each service scenarios are introduced.
