Following a 5.8 magnitude earthquake on September 12, 2016 in Gyeongju Province, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in the northern region of Pohang City on November 15, 2017 in South Korea. Only 7.9 % of the building structures are earthquake-resistant, according to the recent survey conducted by the government agencies in October 2017. In this paper, the linear analysis seismic performance evaluation procedure of the existing school structures presented in the revised methodology(Seismic Performance Evaluation Procedure and Rehabilitation Manual for School Facilities) was introduced. In this paper, the linear analysis evaluation procedure presented in the revised methodology was introduced and the seismic performance index of the example structure was evaluated using the linear analysis evaluation procedure. The seismic retrofit was verified by the linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses using Perform 3D. The analysis results show that the dissipated inelastic energy is concentrated on the retrofitted shear wall and the maximum inter-story drift of the stadium model structure with damping system satisfies the requirement of the current code.

This paper discusses 2D models of beams for simulating the fracture of brittle materials. A simulation of an experiment on a concrete beam subjected to bending, in which two overlapping cracks occur, is used to study the effect of individual beam characteristics and different arrangements of the beams in the overall network mesh. It was found that any regular orientation of the beams influences the resulting crack patterns. Methods to implement a wide range of poisson`s ratios are also developed, the use of the mesh to study arbitrary micro-structures is outlined. The crack pattern that are obtained with mesh are in good agreement with the experimental results. Also,numerical simulations of the tests were performed by means of a model, and non-integer dimensions were measured on the predicted mesh damage patterns.

In the study, a new non-open cut tunnel steel pipe method using slot hole has been developed. As is overcomes shortcomings of conventional methods, it is applied to the field. The main concept of the new method is the steel pipe pumping system with slot holes which, by means of formation slot holes between each steel pipe, applied to the magnitude of the relaxed earth pressure caused by excavation to the ground to prevent ground displacement. The stability of the support members and effect of displacement control of the new method were verified through several ways as numerical analysis and site test. The new method was applied to the construction of a11.5m wide, 7.4m high and 50m long section that passes side subway and large buildings in inner city. By applying the new method, tunnel construction was successfully completed in 6 months. It decreases the construction period to 30% compared to that of conventional methods, and ground was almost negligible

Anchorage zone in prestressed concrete cable stayed bridges is very important area due to the more accurate analysis is needed to estimate the behavior. In the study, since the cable anchorage zone in the prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge is subject to a large amount of concentrated tendon forces, it shows very complicated stress distributions and causes a serious local cracks. A ccordingly, It is necessary to investigate the parameters of affecting the stress properties, such as the cable inclination, the position of anchor plate, the modeling method and the three dimensional effect. The tensile stress distribution of anchorage zone is compared to the actual design condition by varing the stiffness of spring element in the local modeling and an appropriate position of anchor plate is determined. These results would be elementary data to the stress state of anchorage zone and more efficient design.
