The purpose of this study was to examine how the combined exercise, such as dancing, walking and elastic band exercise, on unified Parkinson's disease rating scale(UPDRS), functional fitness and quality of life influences female patients with Parkinson's disease. The subjects were 14 female patients in the 2 to 3 Hoehn & Yahr stage of Parkinson's disease in D hospital of B city. Both exercise and control groups are composed of 7 female Parkinson's disease patients, respectively. The exercise group performed the combined exercise of RPE 11 to 15, band exercise with walking, which was programed 3 times/week and 40~80min/time for 12 weeks. The conclusion of this study is as follows : 1. UPDRS Both exercise and control groups haven't shown significant changes. 2. Functional fitness The exercise group shows a significant improvement in lower and upper-body muscular strength/endurance, left lower-body flexibility, upper-body flexibility, aerobic endurance, manipulating pins in a pegboard, across over with rope. The comparative analysis by group showed different results in lower and upper-body muscular strength/endurance, agility and dynamic balance, aerobic endurance and manipulating pins in a pegboard after the exercise. 3. QOL The exercise group shows a significant improvement in social functioning. However, the control group presents a significant decrease in the sum of Parkinson symptoms, emotional functioning and QOL. In conclusion, the exercise can not heal a ongoing and unrecoverable Parkinson's disease, but it can give a positive effect to the quality of life by enhancing Parkinson's disease condition and social relationship.

The purpose of this study was to examine correlation with functional fitness, UPDRS, and QOL of the Parkinson’s disease(PD). The result of Persons correlation coefficient for 33 subjects as follows; 1. Correlation with functional fitness and UPDRS Totally, muscular strength/endurance relate with the mental, motor exam, T-UPDRS, H&Y stage, and SEADL. Agility and dynamic balance relate with mental, motor exam, T-UPDRS, H&Y stage, and aerobic endurance relate with T-UPDRS, motor exam, T-UPDRS, H&Y stage, and SEADL. Male PD patients7 lower-body muscular strength/endurance relate with motor exam, T-UPDRS, H&Y stage, and SEADL and upper-body muscular strength/endurance relate with ADL, motor exam, T-UPDRS, and SEADL. Also, agility and dynamic balance relate with mental, motor exam, T-UPDRS, H&Y stage, and SEADL. Female PD patients’ lower-bodv flexibility relate with ADL, H&Y stage, and SEADL and upper-body muscular strength/endurance, agility and dynamic balance relate with H&Y stage. 2. Correlation with functional fitness and QOL Totally, lower-body muscular strength/ endurance and aerobic endurance relate with the QOL, Parkinson symptoms(P), emotional functioning(E)/ systemic symptoms(Sys), social functioning(Soc). Upper-body muscular strength/endurance relate with QOL, P, E, and Soc. And agility and dynamic balance relate with QOL, E, Sys, and Soc. Male PD patients' lower-body muscular strength/endurance relate with QOL, P, E, Sys, and Soc. Upper-body muscular strength/ endurance relate with QOL, P, E, and Sys. And aerobic endurance relate with QOL, and P. Female PD patients' lower-body muscular strength/endurance and aerobic endurance relate with Soc.

Falling and postural instability are major clinical problems of patients with Parkinson's disease(PD). The purpose of this study was to examine how to Tai Chi Chuan exercise program influences on unified Parkinson's disease rating scale-motor examination(UPDRS-ME), functional fitness, Beck's depression inventory(BDI), and quality of life(QoL) in patients with Parkinson's disease. The subjects were 7 female patients in the 2 to 3 Hoehn & Yahr stage of Parkinson's disease in the D hospital. They preformed Tai Chi Chuan exercise of RPE 11 to 13 which was programed 3 times/week and 45~65 min/time for 8 weeks. SPSS 11.0 was used analysis of data and computing mean and standard deviation, and paired t-test was performed to verify the differences between before and after the exercise. The conclusion of this study is as follows : Tai Chi Chuan exercise shows a significant improvement in lower muscular strength/endurance, left upper muscular strength/endurance, lower-body flexibility, agility/dynamic balance, aerobic endurance and emotional functioning of QoL after the exercise.
