Confucious's thoughts can be investigated in two aspects of individual's completion of character and the construction of an ideal society. By the way, Confucianism including Confucious's thoughts has been constructed from the ruling classes' standpoint, that is to say, the Confucians defined their basic position as one in which they properly administer the affairs of state to construct an ideal society. Therefore, the ideal image of human beings to which they strove to get through the completion of individual's character can be defined in the examination of the ideal society which they constructed. This paper tries, in this point of view, to define the model of an ideal society which Confucious thought of, and to consider the theory for the completion of individual's character and the theory of politics for the construction of an ideal society. The two basic concepts "Te(德)" and "Li˘(禮)" have been playing the most important roles in the course of this study. These two concepts have proved to be working complementarily in his political thoughts, while working in discord and tension in his theory of the completion of individual's character. Finally, the most important conclusion which this paper has found out is that the relationship of discord and tension between "Jen(仁)" and "Li˘" in the theory of the completion of individual's character successfully prevents his thoughts from running into obstinate conservatism or reactionism and makes his system of thoughts a dynamic structure.
