Present study was conducted to investigate the inheritance of major agronomic characteristics in sesame with 6×6 diallel analysis. Over dominance was recognized in number of branches, number of grains per capsule and protein content, while plant height and 1,000 grain weight showed partial dominance. It was also recognized that dominant genes were prevalnt in the cultivars of Danbaekggae and Kansas-10 for plant height, in Ashrimutant for number of branches, in Kodal and Kansas-10 for number of grains per capsule, and in ashrimutant for 1,000 grain weight. Narrow sense heritabilities were relatively high with the range of 39-53% in plant height, number of branches and protein content, but number of grains per capsule and 1,000 grain weight showed lower heritablities.

Bupleurum falcatum was cultivated in plots of different soil textures, which were sandy loam(SL), loam(L), and clay loam(CL). The growth characters of shoot and root parts in SL and L plots were better than CL one, and root yield was the most excellent in SL one. But the contents of total saikosaponins and methanol extract in its roots were the highest in CL plot. In any soil textures, one and two year old plants showed almost the same results in growth characters and saikosaponins contents. The growth and root yield of two year old plants were higher than those of one year old ones, but the contents of methanol extract and saikosaponins were lower. Plant characters were highly negative-correlated with the contents of saikosaponins and methanol extract.

This study was conducted to investigate the combining ability and heterosis of sesame. 6x6 parental diallel analysis were attempted in 1986. Both GCA and SCA for all characteristics except palmitic acid content were significant. It was appeared that additive gene actions were more important for yield components, while non-additive gene actions were more important for palmitic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid contents. ‘Danbaekggae’ was the best conbiner on yield related characteristics such as plant height, number of capsules per plant and grain weight per plant. Expression of heterosis was significant on yield related characteristics such as plant height, number of branchs, number of capules per plant and 1,000 grains weight per plant. Above results evidently indicated the possible use of Fi hybrid in sesame breeding.

약용으로 널리 이용되는 산수유(Cornus officinalisis)의 기내육종을 위한 기초 연구로 액아배양을 통한 기내 대량증식 가성을 검토한 결과, 1) 액아 배양에 적합한 배지로는 MS 배지와 DKW 배지가 77%의 신초형성율을 보여 가장 양호하였고 WPM과 GD배지는 다소 저조하였다. 2) 얻어진 기내 Shoot의 증식에는 DKW가 6.8개의 신초를 형성하고 신초장이 4.5cm, 엽수도 10.8개로 가장 우수하였고 B5 > GD > MS >WPM의 순이었다. 3) Shoot 증식에 적합한 sucrose의 농도는 MS배지의 경우 3%가 좋았으며, 농도가 높아질수록 신초의 기내 생육에 제한적이었으며, 활성탄의 영향으로는 배지내 농도가 $2\;g\;/\;{\ell}$ 까지 증가할 수록 개체의 생육이 양호한 경향이었다. 4) MS배지의 경우 무기염류의 농도는 2MS에 비하여 1/4MS까지 낮아질수록 기내 생육에 적합하였다. 5) Shoot증식을 위하여 BA $0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}$에 auxin을 종류별로 혼합 첨가한 결과 2,4-D 첨가구의 경우 Callus의 생장이 가장 왕성하였으나 Shoot 증식에는 극히 제한적이었고, IAA와 IBA 처리는 Callus가 전혀 유기되지 않는 반면 multiple shoot가 형성되었으며, NAA에서는 Callus형성과 Shoot증식 이 모두 이루어졌다. 6) 신초의 기내 발근유도 시험에서는 MS매지에 NAA $0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}\;와\;BA\;0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}$를 첨가한 처리에서 신초로부터 정상근이 분화 되었으나 5% 비율로 낮았다. Present experiment were attempted to examine in vitro multiplication throughbud culture of Cornus officinalis. Bud derived shoot formation was established successfully on Murashige and Skoog's medium supplemented with $0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}$ BAP(N-benzyl amino purine). The shoot proliferation increased on the Driver Kuniyuki Walnut medium containing $0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}$ NAA(Napthalene acetic acid) and $0.5mg\;/\;{\ell}$ BAP. Addition of 2,4-D(2,4-Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid) to the media produced excessive callus inducton. IAA(Indole-3-acetic acid) and IBA (Indole-3-bu-tyric acid) enhanced multple shooting, and NAA showed callus induction and multiple shooting. Shoot growth was enhanced supplemented with 3% sucrose, $2g\;/\;{\ell}$ activated charcoal, and 1 / 4MS in organic salts. However, root formation of proliferated shoots was low about 5%

Karyotype analysis and chromosomal localization of 5S and 45S rDNAs using multi-color fluorescence in situ hybridization (McFISH) technique were carried out in two Angelica species. The numbers of diploid chromosomes were the same in two same in two species as 2n=22, however the lengths of chromosomes were varied from 4.25 to 6.50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in A gigas and 4.95 to 8.50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in A acutiloba. The chromosomes of A. gigas were composed of five metacentric and six submetacentric pairs, while those of A. acutiloba were six metacentic, one submetacentric and four subtelocentric paris. In FISH experiments, the numbers and size of 45S rDNA signals were varied between two species, however dach signal of the 5S rDNA was observed in two species.
