The purpose of this study was to evaluate the vertical reaction force and kinematical compensation movements throughout analysis of the lower extremities joint(lower extremities joints angular displacement, angular velocity, linear velocity) during the landing in obese(8 obese-BMI: 35.6 ± 4.9 ㎏/㎡) and normal(8 normal-BMI: 22.2 ± 1.2 ㎏/㎡) subjects. On the study, the obese group was compared with the normal group by landing at the same height, greater peak vertical force and greater inferior acceleration and less range of flexion/extension motion at the lower extremities joints. the obese group showed the lower joint angular velocity and linear velocity on P1. So, the obese group(83˚) occurred more stiff landing than the normal group(95˚), which supported the explain that lower extremities joints was in charge of executing of the function as shock force absorption during the landing. In addition, a maximum knee flexion angle greater than and less than 90˚ has traditionally defined the landing technique as soft or stiff, respectively. No differences in maximum hip, knee were observed either group on P1. But normal group used greater ankle angular velocity compared to the obese group on P1 and P2. The obese group was observed to use less hip, knee and ankle angular velocity on P2. Moreover, the obese group was also observed to use less shoulder, hip and knee linear velocity on P2. Therefore, the kinematical compensation movements of the obese group showed after deep knee flexion.
