This paper presents a method for estimating the useful output of solar space heating system and estimates their performance with variance of collector size, storage volume, collector tilt and other factors . The analysis is performed by the computer simulation and by 'running' conceptual systems against solar intensities and ambient temperature for a model year stored in a computer. System performance is analyzed on monthly and yearly basis respectively and at the same time, the economics of various systems are evaluated . And also, this paper shows how an optimized design can be selected for any locality for which solar data, economic parameters and system performance are provided. It is shown that storage volume of 75 liter per $m^2$ of solar collector lead to the best design.

This paper presents design conditions due to the NTU of counter and cross flow type cooling tower. In the calculation of optimum design conditions for above two types which are widely used in our country, standard water-air ratio, ambient wet bulb temperature and bulk water temperature were adopted by domestic wheather conditions. The important result of this study is obtained as follows : Under the constant value of Ka and L, the number of transfer unit of cross flow type cooling tower Is about 1.1 times as large as that of counter, so the volume of cross flow type is about $10\%$ greater than that of counter.

This paper presents a method for estimating the useful output of solar D.H.W. system. Heating load calculations, climate data and various conditions are used in this procedure to assess the fraction of the monthly solar energy and the actual solar energy supplied by solar energy for particular system. The design procedure presented in this paper referred to the f-Chart Method. The results of analyzing of this study by Fortran programming are as follows ; 1 . The amount of actual solar energy required to the hot water system is slowly rised to the ascend of tilt angle within the range of $45^{\circ}$, with is decreased since $45^{\circ}$. 2. The fraction of solar energy is superior when collector area is $8.64m^2$. 3. At the tilt angle with the range of $37.6^{\circ}\~45^{\circ}$, the amount of actual solar energy established the best results. 4 Both the fraction of solar energy and the actual solar energy are the most suitable during the storage volume is $300{\iota}$.

In this paper, temperature distributions in radial fin of hyperbolic profile for steady -state with no heat generation are obtained by one-dimensional analytical method, finite difference method and experiment respectively. Heat flow rate and fin efficiency from the fin model are obtained by analytical method. To compare the exact solutions obtained by theoretical analysis with the results obtained by finite difference method, cylindrical shape is selected. Particularly, equations of finite difference method for cylindrical shape with irregular boundary are rearranged and formulated. Consequently, temperature distributions in radial fin can certify that are similar to exact solutions. From theoretical analysis, the effects according to heat flow rate and fin efficiency are related to variation of parameters which are fin thickness ${\delta}_o$, fin base temperature $T_o$, thermal conductivity K with same basic dimensions and the fleets are studied and compared.

The purpose of this research was to study the characteristics of heat transfer in Heat Pipe which used the composition wick of screened groove - metallic mesh by ADI method and experimental results. As the results, the more than number of metallic mesh screen layers in a heat pipe increased, the fewer the effect of heat recovery decreased. In case of 1 - layer metallic mesh screen wick, the response of the effect in heat recovery was more rapidly showed than in case of other layers and in spite of high load, the evaporation section of Heat pipe with 1 - layer metallic mesh screen wick showed the stable response and did not show excessive super heat. There was a interrelation between thermal resistance and the variable layers, between thermal resistance and the variable gaps of metallic meshes, the heat transfer characteristics of Heat pipe were depended on the thermal resistance of composition wick.

When an oxidizing catalytic converter which makes use of platium as a catalyst is employed by means of emission control of CO and HC in gasoline engine, the effects of important factors for<br/> the purification efficiency, i.e. engine speed and secondary air rate, on the reduction of CO and HC concentrations in the exhaust gas are studied experimentally.<br/> In the experiment, gasoline and LPG are used as a fuel, and the purification efficiency is cxamined and the results of both cases arc compared with each other.<br/> The experimental results showed that the purification efficiency in the case of LPG is usually higher than that of gasoline, and the optimum values of engin speed and secondary air rate<br/> for maximum purification efficiency exist in common on both cases.
Steady Free Convection Heat Transfer from Sphere by Variable Transformation Methods

표면온도가 균일한 구와 정지하고 있는 공기 사이의 정상대류 열전달을 새로운 변수 전환법에 의하여 연구하였다. 구표면 경계층에서 모멘텀 및 에너지 방정식을 풀기 위하여 이들 방정식을 직교좌표계에서의 형으로 변환시켰다. 변환된 방정식을 풀어 얻은 대류유동만에 의한 자연 대류 열전달계수는 1 < Gr < 10? 범위에서 다른 사람의 실험결과보다 약 13% 작은 값이었다. 끝으로 본연구에서 적용한 변수 변환법의 타당성을 검토하였다. Steady Laminar free convection heat transfer performance between sphere with uniform wall temperature and quescent air was investigated by variable transformation method. To solve the momentum and energy equations in the boundary layer around a sphere, these equations were transformed into the equations which were interpreted in cartecian coordinate system. The heat transfer coefficients dependent only on the convection were about 13 per cent lower than those obtained by other empirical results in the range 1<Gr<10 5?. Finally, the reasonability of the variable transformation method applied in this study was discussed.

The purposes of the study are to contribute to find the necessary factors for prolongation of the bearing life and to improve the qualities of the domestic bearings by means of testing the domestic radial ball bearings with a newly designed and manufactured static load testing apparatus. The results of the life tested with the apparatus have been compared with those of the foreign made rolling bearings. In this study, the life testing apparatus with leaf spring loaded was designed and manufactured, and the radial ball bearings #6204 were tested under the condition of 500kg radial load and 1,040 r.p.m. The results of each bearing, KBC #6204 and NSK #6204, were compared. The results compared are as follows : NSK bearing had flaking in inner race after 207 hours of operation and KBC bearings had flaking on balls, inner race or outer races after the test operation between 149 and 276 hours. These lives exceed the rating life of 130 hours and more than 90 per cent of the group of 12 bearings tested exceeded before the first evidence of fatigue develops. At the same time, the testing apparatus has shown a sufficient performance.
