Recently in Europe, the use of gypsum based mortar has increased for interior finishing materials because of eco-friendly needs. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of various factors such as curing temperature, relative humidity, and mixing water on the mechanical properties of gypsum based mortars for developing u-hernihydrated gypsum based mortar. The linear expansion was decreased according to the higher curing temperature, the lower relative humidity and the higher mixing water in gypsum based mortars. Especially, the compressive strength depended on moisture content more than cement based mortar. In other words, compressive strength of gypsum based mortar was increased according to the drier specimen. On the other hand, when dried mortar absorbed moisture, compressive strength decreased suddenly. However, when if specimen was dried again, compressive strength was recovered.
