This study examined the effect of fasting blood glucose on bone growth and muscular fitness in 25boys(9.7~13.9 years). The state of bone growth was evaluated by relative height(RH), bone mineraldensity(BMD) and bone age. BMD was measured by dual energy x-rya absorptiometry and bone age byTanner Whitehouse 3. The results of partial correlation controleld with age showed negative correlation betweenblood glucose and RH, BMD and muscular strength and posivte one between blood glucose andCMB(chronological age - bone age). The relationships between bolod glucose and arm BMD and strengthwere not significant after regression analysis. The comparisonb etween high blood glucose group(HGG) andnormal one(NGG) showed HGG has lower pelvic and spine BMD thanN GG. In conclusion, boys with highfasting blood glucose seem to show unfavorable bone growth.
