This study examined the physiological and histological changes in Sprague-Dawley rats with induced hypertension by chronic treatment of NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME), nitric oxide synthesis inhibitor. Systolic blood pressure of L-NAME treatement experimental group was significantly higher compared with untreated control group by 28.5%(44.2mmHg)(p<0.001). Changing rates on systolic blood pressure of L-NAME treated groups according to during L-NAME treatment period were significantly higher than control groups by 16.1% in 2weeks, 15.1% in 4weeks(p<O.05), 29.1% in 6weeks(p<0.01) and 28.5%(p<0.001). However, heart rate and body weight did all not significant differ between L-NAME treated group and control group, between L-NAME posttreated rats and pretreated rats. Systolic blood pressure had each low correlation with heart rate and body weight. In conclusion, chronic inhibition of nitric oxide by L-NAME treatment had significant effect on systolic blood pressure, but not affect on heart rate and body weight. Thus, this study suggested that nitric oxide had important role to control for blood pressure and to modulation for function of organs associated with blood pressure.

Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were orally administered with N<SUP>G</SUP>-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME) which inhibits or blocks the production of nitric oxide from L-arginine in vascular endothelial cells and vessel tissue to statistically examine the effects of nitric oxide on some physiological changes such as blood pressure and heart rate, and to confirm the apoptosis induced by the suppressed nitric oxide activity in some related organs under light microscope. Systolic blood pressure significantly increased 28.5% by the chronic treatment of L-NAME for 8 weeks (P<0.001), no significant difference, however, was observed in heart rate between the control group and the L-NAME-treated group regardless of their age. Hematoxylin-eosin staining showed some histological alterations only in kidney among the examined organs; heart, liver, pancreas, and adrenal gland from the L-NAME-treated group. TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling) test showed a strong positive reaction, representing that the chronic treatment of L-NAME facilitates apoptosis, in the cortex and medulla of kidney, but not any significance detectable in the other organs. These results conclude that chronic treatment of L-NAME significantly increases blood pressure, and that the followed inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis occurs a typical inducement of apoptosis in kidney.

This study was carried out to investigate preventive effects of extracts of cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, against the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD)-induced toxicity in 7-week-old Sprague-Dawley male rats. Thirty five male rats were divided into 5 groups: one normal control group treated with vehicle and saline (G1); one TCDD-treated group by single intraperitoneal injection (G2); three preventive groups (G3, G4, and G5). The last three groups, G3, G4, and G5, were fed on cricket extracts (50, 100, and 200 ㎎/㎏, respectively) for 2 weeks before TCDD treatment. Various harmful effects were shown by TCDD treatment. The body weights of rats were lost by TCDD. In addition, severe hypertrophy and color change, and the weights gaining were found in the livers of TCDD-treated rats. It was observed that the cytoplasmic vacuolizations and inflammatory cell infiltration around portal triad in the liver. TCDD also elevated the serum activity levels of alanine transaminase(ALT) and aspartate transaminase(AST). However, those losses were compensated by cricket extracts treatment at the level of 200 ㎎/㎏. These findings indicate that cricket extracts may have protective effects against TCDD-induced toxicities in rats.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the variation in constituent element of blood between the massage group and non-massage group in the period of convalescence after giving intense physical exercise for ten T’ae-Kwondo martial artists. In the variations of red blood cells, white blood cells, hematocrit, hemoglobin and blood platelet, levels decreased during the rest time after physical exercise, but the subjects in the massage group showed lower tendency than the subjects in the non-massage group after physical exercise. The variation of calcium showed an ascension tendency in the massage group after physical exercise. Creatine phosphokinase was increased after physical exercise, but it showed a tendency of rapid decrease in the massage group. Lactic acid showed a variation increase after physical exercise. It showed a tendency of decrease during the rest time in the non-massage group, but it was increased after sports massage. The variation of blood glucose was increased after physical exercise. It was maintained in the massage group after physical exercise in contrast to the non-massage group whose levels decreased during the rest time.

본 연구는 질 가산율 산출 및 적용기준을 검토하여 우수검사실 신임인증 및 전문인력영역에 있어 임상병리사를 추가 가능성을 알아보았다. 연구에 참여한 6개 기관은 1,000병상 이상의 대형병원 규모이며, 상근 진단검사의학과 전문의 평균 5명, 임상병리사는 평균 53명으로 전문의 1명당 10.6명으로 나타났다. 임상병리사의 행위분류별 소요시간에 대한 분석결과, 분석 중 행위는 낮아지고 있는 반면 검사실 운영, 정도관리 등의 강화로 포괄적 분석 전 행위의 비율이 높게 나타났다. 분석 중 행위는 생화학 검사수행 등의 비중이 높았고, 분석 후 행위는 결과분석 등이 대부분을 차지하였다. 이와 같이 검체검사 질 향상을 위해 많은 시간이 소요되며, 그에 맞는 인력이 요구된다. 결론적으로 검체검사 질 향상을 위해 임상병리사의 채용 역시 중요하며, 그에 따른 인원 규정이 필요하다 할 수 있다. This study reviewed the quality addition rate, calculation, and application criteria needed to identify the possibility of additional medical technologists in the field for new certification and professional manpower to provide a superior laboratory. The six institutions that participated in the study were the size of large hospitals with more than 1,000 beds, with an average of five full-time laboratory physicians (also called clinical pathologists) and an average of 53 medical technologists, with 10.6 per laboratory physician. An analysis of the time required for each activity category of medical technologists revealed decreasing behavior during the analysis. In contrast, the ratio of the comprehensive pre-analysis activities was high due to the strengthening of laboratory operations and quality control. During the analysis, the proportion of biochemistry tests was high, and post-analysis of most of the results was performed. Hence, improving the quality of sample testing requires significant time, and appropriate personnel are required. In conclusion, the recruitment of medical technologists is also a key component to improving the sample quality, and corresponding personnel regulations are necessary.
