실업계 고등학생들의 영어 청취 능력과 흥미도 증진을 위한 CD-ROM 타이틀 현장 적용 연구

Well-developed multimedia CD-ROMs has a great potential in helping Korean technical high school students to increase their interest in English and improve their English listening skill. To achieve the goal three CD-ROM titles are selected and experimented with sixty students and ten English teachers for a semester. The students gain more confidence in English the listening test run by the school district twice a semester and motivate them to enjoy studying English more. The students enjoy controling their own speed of learning. The teachers also experimented with the CD-ROMs for their classes and personal use, and responded that the CD-ROMs are good resources for their teaching of English. Even though there are many good CD-ROMs and coursewares are developed for teaching and learning English effectively, but many teachers and students of technical schools do not know them and even tried to use them because of the lack of knowledge and financial support to purchase the CD-ROMs and coursewares. To succeed in using ICT in schools, the ministry of education should focus more on teacher training and software and courseware than computer hardware.

Many hydraulic structures have been built on the earth to satisfy various needs such as the development of cities, improvement of human life, protection from disasters and the maintenance of a better life. Now, the idea about the importance of investing in social infrastructures shifts from construction to maintenance. So it is necessary and important to develop and provide the quantitative and objective evaluation method to estimate safety and stability of hydraulic structures which are composed of various facilities such as mechanical facilities, electric facilities. The purpose of this study is to suggest a new estimation method to obtain an objective result, quantitative evaluation and reliability for the total estimation.
