The power train of water Jet for special purpose vehicle makes use of cardan shaft which is composed of universal joints and shafts. The universal joints and shafts are very important part of cardan shafts for special purpose vehicles where strength problems namely bending & compressive stresses failures and critical speeds failures due to resonances are the main concern. In the present study, calculate the bending stresses of spider, the compressive stresses of needle roller bearings for universal joints of cardan shaft. Also predict the possibility of resonance failures of cardan shaft comparing between the working speed range and the critical speeds calculated by mode analysis method.

A centrifugal compressor was tested with three different diffusers with plate vanes. The vane inlet angle was varied from 15 to 30 deg. The higher static pressure rises are obtained with lower vane stagger angle. In the stable region the static pressure field in vaneless space is very sensitive to flow rate. The impeller has a stabilizing effect over the whole stable operating range. The diffuser has a stabilizing effect at high flow rate but is destabilizing at low flow rate.

The power train of reducer for driving cutter head device of tunnel boring machine makes use of 3-stage complex planetary gear system. The complex planetary gears are very important parts of reducer for tunnel boring machine because of strength problem. In the present study, calculating the specifications of the complex planetary gears and analyzing the gear bending and compressive stresses of the planetary gears, it is necessary to analyze gear bending and compressive stresses confidently for optimal design of the complex planetary gears in respect of cost and reliability. In this paper, analyze actual gear bending and compressive stresses analysis of the planetary gear system using Lewes & Hertz equation and verifying the calculated specifications of the complex planetary gears by evaluating the results with the data of allowable bending and compressive stress from the Stress - No. of cycles curves of gears are equally significant.
