This paper presents a new shape design method for the multi-mode sensor that can detect selected multiple modes for the active vibration control of mechanical structures. The structure used for this study is an isotropic cantilever beam type with a PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) which is bonded onto the structure as a sensor. Characteristic behaviors of the sensor are related with the electrode shapes of PVDF. The shape optimization problem is solved by defining a new multi-objective function and using the genetic algorithm. Resulting electrode shape functions have good performances to detect the multiple vibration modes. The results of analytical simulations are compared with those of experiment works. The results agree well each other. Hence, the obtained experimental results give evidence for the validity of the presented theoretical analysis of the electrode shape design problem.

Vibration control of plates with a passive electrical damper is presented in this paper. This electrical<br/> absorber, piezoelectric patches connected with a resistor and an inductor in series, is analogous to the damped<br/> mechanical vibration absorber. For estimating the effectiveness of piezoelectric absorber, the governing<br/> equations of motion are derived using a classical laminate plate theory and Hamilton principle. The developed<br/> theoretical analyses are validated experimentally for simply-supported aluminum plates in order to<br/> demonstrate the performance of passive electrical damper. The result shows that the vibration amplitude is<br/> reduced about 14dB for the targeted first vibration mode.

This paper concerns the analytical modeling and dynamic analysis of advanced cantilevered blade<br/> structure implemented by a dual approach based on structural tailoring and viscoelastic materials technology.<br/> Whereas structural tailoring uses the directionality properties of advanced composite materials, the passive<br/> materials technology exploits the damping capabilities of viscoelastic material(VEM) embedded into the host<br/> structure. The structure is modeled as a composite thin-walled beam incorporating a number of nonclassical<br/> features such as transverse shear, secondary warping, anisotropy of constituent materials, and rotary inertias.<br/> The case of VEM spreaded over the entire span of the structure is considered. The displayed numerical results<br/> provide a comprehensive picture of the synergisitic implications of the application of both techniques, namely,<br/> the tailoring and damping technology on vibration response of thin-walled beam structure exposed to external<br/> time-dependent excitations.

These days it is very important to produce high value-added products. Making the pattern on the textile fabric is good for producing the valuable textile fabric. In this study, the surface processing equipment is developed for making the pattern on the textile fabric. The textile fabric is moved on the roller attached the steel plate designed the pattern and the sand hits the fabric at the same time to raise a nap. The core parts in this equipment are the nozzle and the roller so it is necessary to analyze the air flow and the distribution pressure of them. The result of the analysis according to the sand distribution was considered so as to design and manufacture this equipment.
