양가적 성차별주의가 성범죄 사건에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향

서윤정 ( Ji Sun Park ),박지선 ( Yun Jeong Seo ) 대한범죄학회 2013 한국범죄학 Vol.7 No.1

The present study examined whether people``s perception, especially ambivalent sexism, influence their attitudes toward rape offender and victim. First, a total of 195 college students read descriptions of various sexual offense incidents and evaluated the degree of the responsibility of the victim for the offense, the pain that victim experienced after the offense, and the punishment of offender for the offense. Second, all subjects responded to the scales of K-MSI, Korean Multiple Sexism Inventory to investigate if people``s attitudes toward rape offender and victim are related to their perception. As a result, the present study found that people (both men and women) who are high in ambivalent and hostile sexism tend to evaluate that the victim is more responsible for the offense, less likely to experience pain after the offense, and that the offender deserves less severe punishment. However, the result were quite different in terms of benevolent sexism. The level of benevolent sexism of men was not related to the evaluation of rape offender and victim. However, women with higher benevolent sexism tend to evaluate that the victim is more responsible for the offense, less likely to experience pain after the offense, and that the offender deserves less severe punishment. Finally, limitations and implications of the present study are discussed.
