Since the recent advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, technology in the defense industry has been growing rapidly, and the proportion of defense improvement costs has also been gradually increasing. Without objective analysis of defense industry technology, which invests a huge budget, efficient technology development is difficult and defense budgets can be wasted. In this paper, we tried to efficiently analyze the defense industry through qualitative methods reflecting the subjective opinions of experts and objective and systematic quantitative methods through data analysis, and to increase the efficiency of the defense budget. In particular, among the big data analysis techniques, which are the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, a patent analysis method of defense industry technology was presented using data mining, and through case studies, not only characteristics between technologies but also vacuum technologies were derived. Among the various defense industry technologies, patents related to ammunition were analyzed, and the results of analysis from various perspectives are judged to be applicable to the defense industry R&D field in the future.
