본 연구에서는 W시에 있는 비위생매립지 주변의 지하수질 약 2년간 관측하고 그 결과를 평가하였다. 주요관심 인자는 산화환원조건에 민감한 pH, 용존산소, 전기전도도, 산화환원전위, 용존 유기탄소, 암모니아, 질산성질소 및 황산이온 등이다. 본 매립지는 생활쓰레기 매립지로 매립종료 약 10년이 경과하였다. 매립지 침출수는 COD 136${\sim}$263 mg/L, T-N 121${\sim}$186 mg/L, NH3-N 14${\sim}$369 mg/L이며, 계절적 변동이 크게 나타났다. 매립지 직하부 지하수는 약산성을 띄나 전기전도도가 매우 높아 침출수 누출의 영향을 나타내었다. 염소이온의 경우 200 mg/L 이상으로 높으나 거리가 멀어짐에 따라 점차 감소하였는데 확산 및 희석 등의 자연저감효과가 큰 것으로 사료된다. 매립지 내부에서는 산화 환원전위가 음의 값을 보이나 하부에서는 350 mV까지 증가하여 혐기성환경에서 산화환경으로의 전이를 나타내었다. 암모니아는 가장 우려되는 지하수질 인자인데 대부분의 관측정에서 크게 부화되어 있으며, 먹는물 수질기준을 상회하였다. 본 매립지 하부의 오염지하수질은 시공간적으로 자연저감 현상이 뚜렷하나 지속적인 수질모니터링이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. This study evaluated groundwater quality around an uncontrolled landfill in W sity, Korea, which was monitored for about two years (2005-2006). Parameters of concern include redox-sensitive indicators such as pH, DO, EC, ORP, DOC (dissolved organic carbon), NH3, NO3 and SO4. About 10 years have elapsed after closing dumping of municipal wastes in the landfill. Leachates showed widely varying concentrations in COD(136${\sim}$263 mg/L), T-N(121${\sim}$186 mg/L), and NH3-N(14${\sim}$369 mg/L). Groundwater at the immediate downgradient of the landfill showed weakly acidic pH condition but very high levels of EC (3,000-4,000 ${\mu}S/cm$), which indicated that the groundwater was largely affected by the landfill leachate. Cl, a conservative ion, showed over 200 mg/L at the landfill border, but a gradually decreasing level with distance from the landfill, representing dispersion and dilution (natural attenuation) due to mixing with surrounding groundwater and replenished rainwater. Redox potential showed negative value at the landfill border but it increased up to 350 mV at downgradient wells, which indicated conversion of redox condition from reducing oxic ones. Ammonia, was largely enriched at most of the monitoring wells and its level greatly exceeded drinking water standard. In summary, all the parameters evidenced occurrence of natural attenuation with distance and with time but further monitoring is still required.
우리나라 지하수수질측정망 현황 평가 및 개선을 위한 고찰

우리나라 지하수수질측정망은 2007년 현재 환경부가 관리하고 있는 오염우려지역 781개 지점 및 일반지역 1,240개 지점과 건설교통부에서 관리하고 있는 국가지하수관측망 478지점을 합쳐 총 2,499지점으로 구성되어 운영되고 있다. 1999년 이후 측정망 운영에 따른 지하수의 수질분석 결과를 매년 발표하고 있지만, 지하수수질측정망 지점에 대한 관정의 현황 정보는 제공하지 못하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지하수수질측정망의 운영현황, 지점선정 및 관정 정보등 현황을 평가하여 특성을 파악하고자 하였으며, 이를 통하여 향후 지하수수질측정망의 개선방안을 고찰하고자 하였다. As of 2007, there are 2,499 groundwater quality monitoring stations in total in Korea. Among them,478 are operated by the MOCT (Ministry of Construction and Transportation) for the National Groundwater Network Program, 781 wells by the ME (Ministry of Environment) for monitoring of the area where imminent contamination is expected, and 1240 wells by the local governments for monitoring of other areas. Even though, water quality data obtained from those wells are being provided to the public since 1999, the information for the wells has not been appropriately informed. In this study, we assessed the wells that are being used for the national groundwater quality monitoring from the points of operation, location, and well configuration to provide suggestions for the improvement of the national groundwater quality monitoring.
유류로 오염된 철로지역의 지중정화를 위한 영향반경 산정과 공기주입법/토양증기추출법의 적용성 평가

The objectives of this study were to calculate the radius of influence (ROI) of well for an air-sparging (AS)/soil vapor extraction (SVE) system and to evaluate the applicability of the system applied for the remediation of the petroleum contaminated rail site. For air permeability test, three monitoring wells were installed at a location of 1.3 m, 2.3 m, 3.0 m from the extraction well. And the pressure of each monitoring well was measured by extracting air from the extraction well with the pressure and flow of $(-)2,600mmH_2O$ and $1.58m^3/min$. The ROI for an extraction well was calculated as 4.31 m. Air was injected into the injection well with the pressure and flow of $3,500mmH_2O$ and $0.6m^3/min$ to estimate the radius of influence for oxygen transfer. Oxygen concentrations of air from three monitoring wells were measured. The ROI of an injection well for oxygen transfer was calculated as 3.46 m. The 28 extraction wells and 19 injection wells were installed according to the ROI calculated. The AS/SVE system was operated eight hours a day for five months. The rail site was contaminated with the petroleum and concentrations of benzene, toluene, and xylene were over the 'Worrisome Standard' of the 'Soil Environment Conservation Act'. The contaminated area was estimated as $732m^2$ and contaminants were dispersed up to (-)3 m from the ground. During the operation period, soil samples were collected from 5 points and analyzed periodically. With the AS/SVE system operation, concentrations of benzene, toluene, and xylene were decreased from 7.5 mg/kg to 2.0 mg/kg, from 32.0 mg/kg to 23.0 mg/kg, from 35.5 mg/kg to 23.0 mg/kg, respectively. The combined AS/SVE system applied to the rail site contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exhibited a high applicability. But the concentration of contaminants in soil were fluctuated due to the heterogeneous of soil condition. Also the effect of the remediation mechanisms was not clearly identified.
