The purpose of this study is the evaluation of the belt tensioner’s influence on FEAD system which is applied on Ssangyong motor. Among the main factors of FEAD system, the most powerful influence factors are vibration and friction. To evaluate belt tensioner’s influence which controls these factors, this paper experimented with movement, force and stroke whice are the main behavior characteristics of hydraulic tensioner and mechanical tensioner used in old and new engines. And searched for the better FEAD system for fuel economy by comparison, examination and study with new and old belt tensioner.
