남자 간호대학생의 남자 간호사에 대한 인식과 장기 진로 계획의 관련성

본 연구는 남자 간호학과 학생들의 남자 간호사에 대한 인식과 진로계획을 조사하고, 이러한 인식과 장기적 진로 계획과의 관계를 확인하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 최종 연구 대상자는 2022년 8월 기준으로 전국 대학 및 전문대학 간호학과에 재학 중인 남학생 188명이다. 장기 진로에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 통계적으로 유의한 변수를 선택하여 다변량 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 간호사가 남녀 모두에게 적합한 직업이 아니라는 인식(OR = 4.59), 간호사가 여성적이거나 수동적인 직업이 아니라는 인식(OR = 2.73), 남자 간호사가 평생 직업이 될 수 없다는 인식(OR = 2.15) 등이 임상 외 분야로 장기 진로 선택을 하는 요인으로 파악되었다. 결과적으로 남성 간호사에 대해 부정적인 인식을 가진 남성 간호학과 학생들은 임상 외 분야를 선택하는 경향이 있었다. 또한 남성 간호학과 학생들의 임상 외의 진로 요구도가 높은 것이 확인 되었으므로 임상 간호사만이 아닌 다양한 간호 전문직을 소개하는 진로 교육을 통해 지식, 기술, 태도를 갖출 수 있게 해야 한다. This study investigates the perceptions of male nurses and their career plans, and confirms the relationship between these perceptions and their long-term career plans. The study subjects comprised 188 male students enrolled in nursing departments at universities and colleges across the country, as of August 2022. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors influencing long-term career paths by selecting statistically significant variables. The perception that nursing is not a job suitable for men and women (OR = 4.59), that male nurses are not perceived as feminine or passive (OR = 2.73), and that male nurses are not considered to have a lifetime job (OR = 2.15) were identified as factors to consider when choosing a career in a non-clinical field. Male nursing students who had a negative perception of male nurses were more likely to pursue non-clinical fields. It is important to understand that this study identifies the career needs of male nursing students. We determined that the career path had a strong impact on deciding between non-clinical and clinical fields.
