This study sought to examine the media coverage of mental illnesses before and after the introduction of guidelines for reporting mental illnesses in Korea. For this purpose, content analysis of 88 daily newspaper articles was performed for one year before and after the Mental Illness Reporting Guideline 1.0 were announced on April 28, 2022. The results of this study are as follows. First, the results comparing compliance with the five principles before and after the introduction of the guidelines revealed; no statistically significant difference. Second, among the detailed items of ‘Principle 1. Be careful about using terms related to mental illness’, the item ‘Refrain from promoting risk awareness’ was the only item that showed a compliance rate of around 20%. Third, in the type of person involved in ‘Principle 4. Must include opinions of people related to mental illness’, ‘no mention’ was the highest. Fourth, the compliance rate for ‘Principle 5. Mental illness is preventable and recoverable and specifying information on requesting help’ was 0.0%. Based on these research results, we discussed ways to improve the mental illness reporting guidelines and specific ways to utilize the guidelines more universally.

산복사나무(Prunus davidiana (Carriere) Franch.) 열매 분획 추출물의 항산화 및 미백 효능

본 연구에서는 산복사나무 열매 과육부를 80% 메탄올 추출물과 이를 극성과 비극성에 따른 순차적 분획물에 대하여 DPPH 소거능, nitrite 소거능, 총항산화능 및 총플라보노이드, 총폴리페놀 함량을 측정하고 tyrosinase 저해활성을 측정하였다. 그 결과 DPPH 소거능의 값은 에틸아세테이트 분획과 부탄올 분획이 5.8±0.1μg/mL, 8.1±0.2μg/mL 로 높은 활성을 나타내었으며, nitrite 소거능 역시 에틸아세테이트 분획과 부탄올 분획의 IC50 값이 88.1±0.9μg/mL, 134.8±1.0±로 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 총항산화능(TEAC)은 에틸아세테이트 분획이 6.21±0.01 mM로 높은 활성을 나타내었으며 ascorbic acid, BHA와 유의적인 차이가 없는 항산화능을 보였다. 총플라보노이드와 총폴리페놀 함량 역시 에틸아세테이트 분획과 부탄올 분획에서 , 244.5±1.4, 138.1±0.3 mg/g과 210.2±3.9,, 198.5±1.9 mg/g으로 가장 높았으며, tyrosinase 저해활성의 IC50 값도 0.310±0.002, 0.329±0.006mg/mL로 에틸아세테이트 분획과 부탄올 분획의 활성이 높았다. 따라서 본 연구 결과 산복사나무 열매의 에틸아세테이트 분획물과 부탄올 분획은 높은 항산화 활성 및 tyrosinase 저해활성을 가지고 있으며 이는 천연항산화제 및 미백제로서 활용이 가능함을 시사하며 추가적인 연구를 통해 기능성 소재 개발에 유용한 자원으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. In this study, methanol extract and its organic solvent fractions were prepared from Prunus davidiana (Carriere) Franch. fruit. Antioxidative activities, polyphenolic and flavonoid contents, and tyrosinase inhibitory activities were evaluated. Among the fractions, ethyl acetate fraction showed the highest antioxidative activity with IC50 values of 5.8 μg/mL and 88.1 μg/mL for DPPH radical and nitrite scavenging, respectively, which were comparable to those of ascorbic acid. Further, total flavonoid and polyphenolic contents were highest in the ethyl acetate fraction with IC50 values of 244.5 mg/g and 210.2 mg/g, respectively. IC50 values for tyrosinase inhibitory activity were 0.310 mg/mL and 0.329 mg/mL for the ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions, respectively. Based on these results, it is suggested that the ethyl acetate fraction of Prunus davidiana (Carriere) Franch. fruit could be used as a functional material in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
