The morphology and related properties have been studied for the thermoplastic semicrystalline poly(phenyletheretherketone), PEEK, film crystallized at different temperatures. Semicrystalline PEEK films were obtained by cooling the melt to different temperatures using the amorphous films. The semicrystalliile films were characterized using differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, tensile testing and dynamic mechanical analysis. A polarizing microscope was used to examine crystalline morphology. Crystallization temperature and degree of crystallinity affected the tensile and dynamic mechanical properties. The analysis of thermal, X-ray diffraction, and tensile properties of the semicrystalline films indicates that the film crystallized at 25$0^{\circ}C$ exhibited the highest crystallinity and very tough behavior compared with other semicrystalline films.

Purpose: This study evaluated the usefulness of a silicone ring tourniquet by analyzing the changes in the perioperative hemoglobin (Hb) levels or amount of perioperative bleeding compared to those of a pneumatic tourniquet or no usage during minimally invasive plate fixation for distal femoral fractures. Materials and Methods: From January 2017 to December 2019, 30 patients who underwent minimally invasive plate fixation using a locking compression plate for distal femoral fractures were evaluated and classified as a silicone ring tourniquet (Group 1), a pneumatic tourniquet (Group 2), and no usage (Group 3). The variables for analysis were age, sex, preoperative Hb (preHb), postoperative 72-hour Hb (postHb), differences between preHb and postHb (preHb-postHb), amount of intraoperative and overall transfusion, estimated unit of transfusion corrected by preHb-postHb and total transfusion (Hb-lost), amount of intraoperative and postoperative and total bleeding. One-way ANOVA was used to identify the differences between the groups. Results: The age, sex, operation time, preHb, preHb-postHb, amount of intraoperative and overall transfusion and Hb-lost were similar in the two groups. The amount of intraoperative bleeding was significantly lower in Group 1 than Group 3 (p=0.004), but there was no difference in the amount of postoperative and total bleeding between the two groups. Conclusion: The use of a silicone ring tourniquet in the minimally invasive plate fixation for distal femoral fractures decreased the amount of intraoperative bleeding compared to no use of a tourniquet. 목적: 대퇴골 원위부 골절에 대해 최소 침습적 금속판 고정술을 시행하는 경우, 실리콘 링 지혈대의 사용이 혈색소 변화나출혈량에 영향을 주는지 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2017년 1월부터 2019년 12월까지 대퇴골 원위부 골절로 최소 침습적 잠김 압박 금속판을 이용한 고정술을받은 30명의 환자를 실리콘 링 지혈대(1군), 공기압 지혈대(2 군), 지혈대 미사용(3군)으로 분류하였다. 나이, 성별, 수술 시간, 혈색소 수치, 수혈량, 술 전후 혈색소와 수혈량으로 보정된 출혈량, 실제 출혈량을 분석하였고, 일원배치 분산분석을이용하여 각 군의 차이를 알아보았다. 결과: 세 군의 나이, 성별, 수술 시간, 술 전 혈색소, 술 전후 혈색소 차이, 수혈량, 술 전후 혈색소와 수혈량으로 보정된 출혈량은 차이가 없었다. 술 중 출혈량은 3군 대비 1군에서 유의하게 낮았지만(p=0.004), 술 후 및 전체 출혈량은 세 군 간 차이가 없었다. 결론: 대퇴골 원위부 골절의 최소 침습적 금속판 고정술 시실리콘 링 지혈대의 사용은 지혈대 미사용에 비해 수술 중 출혈량을 감소시켰으나, 술 전후 혈색소 차이나 수혈량, 전체 출혈량에서 유의한 차이는 없었다.

The mechanical properties of carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced PEEK hybrid composites with different starting sequence were evaluated through tensile, flexural, interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and impact test. Tensile and flexural strength of hybrid composites increased with the fiber volume fraction. Interlaminar shear strength was affected by stacking sequence of the hybridization. In the impact test, the hybrid composites with glass fiber ply at impact side absorbed more energy and showed synergy effect in impact energy absorption.
폴리우레탄 방수코팅이 전분/글리세롤 필름의 특성에 미치는 영향

Starch films plasticized with glycerol(weight ratio of starch to glycerol=10:3) were prepared by casting and were subsequently coated with polyurethane(PU) synthesized from castor oil and tolylene diisocyanate(TDI). The coating process was performed using a motor-driven dip-coater and thickness of coated layers was 5~23${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The coated layers were stabilized by covalent bonds between excess isocyanate groups of PU and hydroxyl groups of starch films, proved by FT-IR, DSC, and SEM. The effects of PU-coating on water-sorption behavior and mechanical properties of the films were investigated. The flexibility of uncoated films increased with relative humidity(R.H.), however, mechanical properties such as elastic modulus and tensile strength decreased significantly, due to the plasticizing effects of glycerol and water at ambient temperature. Overall absorption/desorption behavior of the coated films under different R.H. conditions was similar to that of uncoated film, whereas sorption rate and amount of sorbed water decreased with increasing coating thickness. In addition, elastic modulus and tensile strength of the coated films increased with thickness of the coated layers in the R.H. ranges investigated when compared with the uncoated films. Therefore, it could be concluded that the water-proof and mechanical properties of starch films were improved by PU-coating.
전후 활주형 가동형 슬관절 전치환술 후 발생한 대퇴 치환물의 파손

The authors diagnosed femoral component fracture after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using an anterior-posterior glide mobile-bearing system in a 78-year-old female patient who visited with severe pain and flexion limitations in the left knee and performed revision TKA. The fracture of the femoral component after TKA is a rare complication, and various factors cause the fracture of the femoral component. This case is reported along with a literature review. 저자들은 내원 7년 전 전후 활주형 가동형을 이용한 슬관절 전치환술을 받고 4주 전 극심한 좌측 슬관절 통증과 굴곡 제한이 발생한 78세 여자 환자에서 대퇴 치환물의 파손을 진단하고 재치환술을 시행하였다. 슬관절 전치환술 후 대퇴 치환물의 파손은 드문합병증으로 알려져 있으며, 다양한 인자들이 대퇴 치환물의 파손의 원인으로 이해되고 있기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
