This study investigates the potential factors that might affect the technology commercialization (TC) of public research institutions and universities (PRI&U) using unique data sets. The data includes commercialization status, intermediaries’s involvement, receiver’s absorptive capabilities and licensee’s motivation of 1,087 licensed contracts between 29 PRI&Us and private companies. Samples are divided into two groups based on the licensee’s motivation- technology acquisition and securing rights of technology. The results show that no matter what licensee’s motivation is, technology transfer performance of PRI&U is negatively associated with technology commercialization. On the other hand, researcher’s additional support affects TC positively when technology acquisition is the motivation for technology transfer, and firm’s absorptive capacity is positive to TC in securing rights of technology. Technology intermediaries’ involvement have a positive effect on TC for securing rights of technology, but a negative effect in the case of technology acquisition. 공공연구기관으로부터 기술을 이전받은 기업의 사업화 성공에 미치는 요인들이 무엇인지를 찾아보았다. 29개 공공연구기관에서 이전한 기술 5,411건을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 684건의 응답결과를 활용하였다. 기술이전 후 사업화 성공까지를 포괄적으로 분석하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있으며, 특히 기업의 기술도입동기를 기술력확보와 기술의 권리확보로 구분하여 분석하였다는 점에서 기존연구들과의 차별성이 있다. 기술도입동기와 무관하게 공공연구기관의기술이전성과(=기술료수입/연구비지출)는 기업의 사업화 성공에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기술력 확보를 목적으로 한 경우 연구자지원이 양(+)의 영향을 주었고, 기술의 권리 확보가 목적일 경우 기업의 흡수역량이 양(+)의 영향을주었다. 분석결과를 토대로 공공연구기관의 기술이전 성과와 기업의 사업화 성공간의 연결고리 확보를 위해 성과공유형 기술료 제도의 확산과 연구자 인센티브 배분비율의 차등화를 제시하였다. 또한 중개조직 참여가 기술력 확보가 목적일 때는부(-)의 영향을, 반대로 기술의 사용권리 확보를 목적으로 하였을 때에는 정(+)의영향을 준 결과를 통해 중개조직의 효과적인 비즈니스 모델 수립에 참고할 수 있는 일련의 시사점을 제공하였다.
Expressional Subpopulation of Cancers Determined by G64, a Co-regulated Module

Studies of cancer heterogeneity have received considerable attention recently because the presence or absence of resistant sub-clones may determine whether or not certain therapeutic treatments are effective. Previously, we have reported G64, a co-regulated gene module composed of 64 different genes, can differentiate tumor intra- or inter-subpopulations in lung adenocarcinomas (LADC). Here, we investigated whether the G64 module genes were also expressed distinctively in different subpopulations of other cancers. RNA sequencing–based transcriptome data derived from 22 cancers except LADC, were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Interestingly, the 22 cancers also expressed the G64 genes in the correlated manner as observed previously in the LADC study. Considering that gene expression levels were continuous among different tumor samples, tumor subpopulations were investigated using extreme expressional ranges of the G64, i.e., tumor subpopulation with the lowest 15% of G64 expression, tumor subpopulation with the highest 15% of G64 expression and tumor subpopulation with intermediate expression. In each 22 cancer, we examined whether patients’ survivals were differentiated among the three different subgroups, and found that the G64 could differentiate tumor subpopulations in six other cancers including sarcoma, two kidneys, brain, liver, and esophageal cancers.
플라즈마 용사용 $Al_2O_3/SS316$ 복합 분말 제조 및 경사 코팅충의 제조에 관한 연구

In the case of using high temperature by coating ceramic/metal, large stress was produced due to difference of thermal expansion coefficient between those. And then lead to delamination. In order to relaxation of the stress A1$_2$O$_3$/SS316 composite powders with $10wt.%Al_2O_3$ compositional gradient and $10wt.%Al_2O_3$ agglomerated powder were made by spray drying method. These powders were sintered to improve the strength and to be plasma sprayed in order to fabricate the FGC(functionally graded coating). The influence of gun power, working distance and Ar pressure on the microstructure of the coating layer was studied in order to optimize the plasma spray conditions. It was proven that the optimum conditions were 40kw gun power, 5cm working distance and $100ft^3/h$ Ar flow for both powders. FGC with 10 compositional steps was fabricated and the total thickness was 1.3mm. FGC was heat treated at $1100^{\circ}C$for 10hours to evaluate the heat resisting characteristics.

Deferasirox is a once-daily, oral iron-chelating agent that is now widely available for the treatment of transfusional hemosiderosis. Deferasirox represents a significant advance in the treatment of iron overload, as the availability of an effective oral therapy has the potential to relieve many patients from the burden of frequent parenteral therapy with the previous reference standard iron chelator, deferoxamine. The well-known drug-related adverse events associated with deferasirox include gastrointestinal disturbances, rash, elevations in liver enzyme levels, and mild increases in serum creatinine levels, but acute renal failure is not common. The authors report a case of acute tubulointerstitial nephritis induced by deferasirox following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for severe aplastic anemia. The advent of massively parallel sequencing, also called next-generation sequencing (NGS), has dramatically influenced cancer genomics by accelerating the identification of novel molecular alterations. Using a whole genome sequencing (WGS) approach, we identified somatic coding and noncoding variants that may contribute to leukemogenesis in 11 adult Korean acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, with serial tumor samples (primary and relapse) available for 5 of them; somatic variants were identified in 187 AML-related genes, including both novel (SIN3A, C10orf53, PTPRR, and RERGL) and well-known (NPM1, RUNX1, and CEPBA) AML-related genes. Notably, SIN3A expression shows prognostic value in AML. A newly designed method, referred to as “hot-zone” analysis, detected two putative functional noncoding variants that can alter transcription factor binding affinity near PPP1R10 and SRSF1. Moreover, the functional importance of the SRSF1 noncoding variant was further investigated by luciferase assays, which showed that the variant is critical for the regulation of gene expression leading to leukemogenesis. We expect that further functional investigation of these coding and noncoding variants will contribute to a more in-depth understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms of AML and the development of targeted anti-cancer drugs.
