In this paper, we analyze the inverse statistics of rainfall for 12 regions from 1973 to 2014. We obtain a probability density function f(x) of daily rainfall x, and $f({\tau}_{\rho})$ of the first passage time ${\tau}_{\rho}$ for a given ${\rho}$. Lastly, we derive the relation between ${\rho}$ and ${\tau}_{mean}({\rho})$, i.e., the averaged value of ${\tau}_{\rho}$. The analyses result in the x and ${\tau}_{\rho}$ have stretched exponential distributions. Also, ${\tau}_{mean}({\rho})$ has the form of a stretched exponential function. We derive the shape parameter ${\beta}$ of the distribution, and analyze the characteristics of 12 regional rainfalls.
수능시험 과학 심화과목 응시 여부와 해군사관학교에서의 학업성취도 관계 분석

고등학교 과학 계열 심화 선택과목이 해군사관학교 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력을 알아보기 위해 간접적으로 수능에서 물리 II, 화학 II를 응시한 집단과, 미응시한 집단 간 해군사관학교에서의 일반물리 및 일반화학 시험평균점수에 대한 t 검정을 실시하였다. 또한 수능 응시 여부와 해군사관학교 학점 간의 카이제곱 독립성 검정도 실시하였다. 그 결과 두 검정 모두에서 수능시험 과학 계열 심화과목 응시 여부가 해군사관학교의 학업성취도에 주요한 영향력을 행사하는 것을 확인하였다. 이 같은 현상의 원인 중 하나로 고등학교와 대학교의 교육 내용 유사성을 들 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 수학능력시험에서 과학 심화과목에 응시하는 학생수는 매년 줄고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 학습 내용을 개편하거나 수업 방식을 개선할 필요가 있다. 고등학교 물리 II 및 화학 II 교과서를 지금보다 흥미와 사례 위주로 개편할 필요가 있으며, 대학에서도 상위과정 학습과 실무 해결 능력 향상을 위해 수업 방식을 다양화할 필요가 있다. 한편, 고등학교에서는 진로 교육 등을 통해 이공계열 진학에 필요한 선수과목들의 중요성을 인식시키고, 대학에서는 학생들의 수업선택권을 확대하여 수준별 분반 수업을 실시하는 등 동기 부여를 위한 방안들을 마련하는 것이 필요하다. We conducted t-tests for the scores of general physics and general chemistry in the ROK naval academy between a group that took a physics II or chemistry II at the Scholastic Aptitude Test and the other group, respectively. The goal of t-tests is to evaluate the influence of studying high school science intensive courses to the academic achievements at the Korea naval academy(KNA). Also, we carried out the chi-square independence tests between taking an intensive electives at SAT and the grades at the KNA. We found out that studying science intensive electives at high school mainly affects the achievements at the KNA. The causes of this result may be the similarity of high schools and KNA curriculum. Nevertheless, the number of students that taking physics II or chemistry II have been decreasing year after year. In order to turn down these problems, we may have to reform the textbooks or improve the teaching method. The high school physics II and chemistry II textbooks need to be focused on arousing interest and introducing the case studies. Also, colleges need to diversify the teaching methods for students' higher learning and improving problem-solving abilities. On the other hand, high schools need to recognize the importance of the prerequisite to major science and engineering through the career education. Also, colleges need to expand the students' options for the levels of classes to raise the motivation
한국 주식시장 상위 8개사에 대한 적합도 검정 및 독립성 검정

In this paper, we investigated the major 8 companies of Korean stock market, and carried out the goodness of fit and independence tests. We found out the distributions of absolute returns are closed to compressed exponential distribution. The parameters are dominant that 1 < ${\beta}$ < 2, followed by ${\beta}=1$(exponential distribution) and ${\beta}=2$(normal distribution). Meanwhile, we assured that most of the absolute returns for major 8 companies have relevance to each other by chi-square independence test.

Red pepper powder is a necessary ingredient in our culinary culture, using in a variety of dishes such as Kimchi and salted seafood. As the global food landscape expands, the kind of red pepper powder is diversified, leading to an increased consumption trend. FTA was implemented in 2010 and almost agricultural products expected to be fully opened to international trade by the early 2030s. Red pepper powder imported with a low tariff has the potential to trigger a self-sufficiency collapse in the domestic red pepper industry and leading to a fraud of red pepper powder(ex. mislabeling). In response, this study seeks to develop a testing method for discerning the origin of domestic and imported red pepper powder and furthermore aims to mitigate social and economic confusion caused by inaccurate information provision and unjustifiable expenses. This study secured each 60 samples of red pepper powder from domestic and Chinese origin and then a comprehensive literature review guided the selection of components for analysis. Instrumental analyses, involving equipment such as HPLC, UV spectroscopy, ICP, IR-MS, were conducted through necessary pre-treatment. Among the 28 components analyzed, significant differences were observed in fructose, ASTA color value, total polyphenol content, Al, Fe, Na content and nitrogen isotope ratio mass analysis. Leveraging these findings, statistical techniques like discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis were applied, yielding classification accuracies of 91.7 % and 98.3 %, respectively.
Comprehensive analysis to determine the differences of solar salt produced in South Korea and China

Food fraud, including adulteration, addition, tampering, and misrepresentation of food ingredients and packaging for improper economic profit, has been global concerns affecting public health and safety. In South Korea, counterfeit expression of solar salt has been a problem causing improper economic profit, especially for those products produced from China, but labeled as ‘domestics’. In this study, we were tried to discriminate geographical origins of solar salt between South Korea and China through various analytical techniques, the determination of moisture and sodium chloride contents, multielemental analysis, and isotope analysis. With the application of a statistical analysis, more than 93.3% of discrimination capability of positive classification was achieved in this study.
Characteristics of the Topological Properties in a Seismic Network of California

We study a seismic network by considering the volume resolution and the temporal causality. Acomputer simulation and its analysis of seismic networks are performed using seismic time seriesdata taken in southern California, USA. After simulating a seismic network against spatial shiftsand scales in volume, we treat the features of the topological properties more briefly via variousstatistical quantities, such as the probability distribution of degree, characteristic path length, meanclustering coefficient, small-worldness, cost efficiency, global efficiency, modularity, and assortativecoefficient. The universal and the irregular properties of the statistical quantities in a seismicnetwork are not found unambiguously, but in the future, the universal and the irregular propertiesmay be improved significantly by implementing methods and techniques using registered data ofseismic networks.
