A study was made to investigate the effects of various binders on the physical properties of acetaminophen granules and tablets prepared by wet and fluidized bed granulation methods. The binders used were povidone (K-90), hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC-L) and gelatin. The fluidized bed granules were more porous than the wet massed, and the tablets prepared by fluidized system showed improved disintegration and dissolution characteristics. The dissolution rate was fast in the order of gelatin>povidone>hydroxypropylcellulose in tablets prepared by fluidized system, and povidone>hydroxypropylcellulose>gelatin in tablets prepared by wet granulation.

The Red Badge of Courage에 나타난 Stephen Crane의 藝術性

The Red Badge of Courage is Stephen Crane's monumental masterpiece written, at the young age of 23, without any experience of actual war. The army camps and battlefields were vividly described, even though they were merely used for setting. Crane's main purpose seemed to be the treatment of psychology of men in battle. The conflicts in Henry Fleming's mind, in particular, were superbly shown. Extensive use of animal imagery was employed in the form of similies and metaphors. Henry's moral growth from a youth to a real adult was paralleled with the different animal imageries throughout the book. Crane painted with words exactly as the French impressionists painted with pigments using both pure colors and contrasts of colors. Those varied color images symbolize respectively courage, badge, war, blood, injury, enemy, death, rage, roar, fury, etc.. Religious imagery prevails and deep, powerful ironies are found constantly. Crane seldom used proper names for his characters, eve if they did have their own. Instead, they were referred to by their looks, characteristics, jobs, ranks and so on. Making Henry a point-of-character with a limited third-person objective, Crane's narrative technique was outstandingly well done. Rather more psychological than military was the tone. Making simple and crispy sentences with poetic cadence was Crane's tactic. Often he liked to coin hyphenated compound words and use passive forms and prepositional phrases. The Red Badge of Courage alone proves that Stephen Crane is a genius writer as well as a superlative artist. And with this novel Crane has contributed a great deal to American literature.

Rotational malalignment after IM nail of femur is a common problem and if the deformity is great, may cause pain, limitation of motion, even require corrective osteotomy later. The rotational malalignment of femur is not easy to find out during operation because prominant landmarks is lack. We experienced 25 years old male patient with 45° of internal malalignment of femur after IM nail at other hospital. The patient was treated by corrective osteotomy at the fracture site and exchange nailing, but we confronted the obstacle that was remained rotatonal unstability after slotted nailing, and we have to use additional plate fixation. This problem can be prevented by using rigid unslotted nail.

제거된 인공 고관절 대치물의 마모성과 비구컵 두께, 대퇴골두 크기의 상호관계에 관한 연구

1960년대 초반 Charnley 등에 의한 인공 고관절 전치환술이 비약적인 발전을 하면서 장기 추시 결과 인공 관절의 실패를 초래하게 되는 후기 무균성 해리가 인공관절의 수명을 결정짓는 가장 중요한 원인으로 대두됨에 따라, 본 연구는 인공 대치물에 대한 분석을 통해 폴리에틸렌 컵의 잠행 변화를 포함한 마모의 측정과 각 컵의 두께, 상이한 대퇴골두 크기와 형태에 따른 마모와의 상관관계를 알아보고, 향후 인공 관절의 장기 사용에 대한 임상 지침의 개발과 재질에 대한 연구에 기여하고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. The effects of polyethylene cup thickness, femoral head sizes (22, 28 and 32mm) on wear were investigated with retrieved total hip prostheses. When the cup thickness was less than 9mm, the larger the femoral head, the higher the linear wear rate was; however, when the cup thickness was more than 9mm, the larger the femoral head, the lower the linear wear rate was. When the cup thickness was less than 11mm, the volumetric wear rate increased with increasing size of the femoral head, and when it was more than 11mm, the volumetric wear rate of the three kinds of the prosthetic cups approached the same values. When the cup thickness was less than 9mm, the volumetric wear rate tended to increase with increasing number of fusion defects. Large diameter fusion defects diminished the tensile strength.
