        By the experiment of a model Ondol heating system gas flow characteristics in a briquette flue tube was investigated. As a heat source electric heater was used, which renders steady flow condition of air. working fluid. It was observed that the flow augumentation may be obtained by increasing the vertial elevation of the flue tube, namely increase in the tube length or increase in the tube inclination, and the gas temperature at the tube entrance Among several factors which augument the flow rate slope of the flue tube has the most striking effect and then the temperature of gas entering the tube. Increase in length of the tube also auguments the flow but the rate of augumentation is so small that it gives little assistance to improvement of the flow The flow in a briguette flue gas does not essentially satisfy the one dimensional steady flow assumption. It is also observed that the flow begins to accompany irregular velocity fluctuation as inclination of the tube increases.

        To analyze two dimensional incompressible laminar natural convection in a rectangular enclosure heated from below and cooled by a horizontal ceiling and two vertical walls, he primitive Navier-Stokes equations and the energy equation were solved numerically in time dependent form by a marker and cell method. A successive over-relaxation method for the elliptic portion of the problem and an explicit method for the parabolic portion were applied for the range of Grashoff number of $5{\times}10^3\;to\;5{\times}10^4$ to get the transient and steady state dimensionless temperature and velocity profiles. For the range of aspect ratio $L/H{\leqq}2.4$ in which only a pair of convection rolls exists mean Nusselt number calculated are as follows : $$N_{NU}0.89\;N_{Gr}^{0.2}(H/L)^{0.45}$$ By path lines drawn by marker particle trajectories roll number of cellular motion were observed for various aspect ratio of the enclosure.

      • 세미나 - 우리나라 경차 보급의 문제점 및 확대 방안

        제6회 LPG의 날 행사가 지난 11월 3일 서울 팔래스호텔에서 성황리에 열렸다. 이번 행사로 LPG연료의 발전방향을 모색해 보는 세미나가 진행됐다. 마지막 발표자로 나선 녹색교통운동 송상석 팀장은 우리나라 경차보급 문제점 및 확대방안을 통해 경차보급의 필요성을 주장했다. 특히 송 팀장은 경차보급을 촉진하기 위해 LPG경차를 허용했으나 자동차사의 상술로 인해 차량 값이100만원 가량 인상됐다고 지적했다. 자세한 발표 내용을 게재한다.

      • 우리나라에서의 증발식 냉각의 효용성

        The effectiveness with which evaporative cooling can be used in Korea was analysed by making use of weather data of 15cities in a past decade. In ASHRAE comfort chart for a still air atmospheric condition was divided into two dimensional array, 14 zones by effective temperature and 10 zones by relative humidity, and all hours of weather condition in those zones were. computed from every 4 hours weather data in a past decade. From this computation obtained were for 15 cities : 1. average annual total hours above $23^{\circ}C$ ET 2. effective temperatures with $5\%$ excess factor, and 3. ratios of all hours in wet (above $25.6^{\circ}C$ WBT), intermediate $(22^{\circ}C\;to\;25.6^{\circ}C\;WBT)$, and dry $(below\;22^{\circ}C\;WBT)$ area to total hours in whole area on comfort chart beyond $23^{\circ}C$ ET to effective temperature of $5\%$ excess factor. It was shown from this computational result that in Korea evaporative cooling was not effective for building and residential comfort air conditioning but could be useful for comfort air conditioning in industry and industrial air conditioning, depending upon the air stream velocity and the type of application.

        위성신호 Delay추가를 통한 위성 DMB 서비스 경계지역 품질 개선

        위성DMB 서비스 시스템에서는 음영 지역을 커버하기 위한 중계기인 갭필러를 운용하고 있다. 하지만, 갭 필러의 커버리지 영역에 한계가 있가 때문에 위성DMB 단말기가 갭필러의 커버리지 영역에서 벗어나면 위성으로부터 직접 신호를 수신한다. 여기서, 갭필러신호 서비스 커버리지와 위성신호 서비스 커버리지 사이에 경계지역이 발생하게 되며, 이러한 경계지역에서는 위성으로부터의 선호와 갭필러로부터의 신호간에 단말기의 복조창보다 차이가 큰 지연시간이 발생하므로 서비스 품질 저하가 발생하게 되는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 위성신호와 갭필러신호 사이에 발생되는 지연시간을 극복할 수 있도록 위성신호와 갭필러신호에 Delay를 추가하여 경계지역의 품질을 개선하는 방법을 제안한다. 갭필러시설이 전국적으로 확대되지 않은 서비스 초기단계에서 이 방법은 품질개선활동에 많은 도움이 되리라 사료된다. Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(SDMB) needs Gap Fillers(GFs) to cover the non-service areas. However, SDMB mobile phones which are not located in GFs service area receive signals directly from the satellite because it is impossible to cover all SDMB service with GFs. Therefore, there is a border between the GFs service coverage and the satellite service coverage and it causes a time delay in signals which are from the GFs or the satellite. The time delay is the reason why SDMB service deteriorates. In this paper, I show how to reduce the deterioration of SDMB service in the border area between the GFs and the satellite adding the time delay to the satellite signal and the GFs signal. I think that this method is helpful in reducing the deterioration, especially in the early stages of SDMB service, which the GFs are not spread all over the nation yet.

        실내온도조절을 위한 인버터 열펌프의 주파수 제어에 관한 연구

        An experimental study on the frequency control of an inverter heat pump to get the desired indoor room temperature has been conducted for the performance characteristics during the steady, 4, 8, and 16 step frequency operations. The heat pump model used in this study was operated to meet the experimental conditions of ASHRAE standard. The performance of the system was tested by measuring the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant, and cooling capacity, power consumption, etc. of the system. As the controlling frequency steps increased, the running time of the compressor increased as well as the electric consumption of the system and the cooling energy due to the wall heating load. However, the average cooling COP was improved.
