Two biological pathways are activated in Diabetes mellitus, which are termed as Sorbitol pathway and glucuronic acid pathway. Aldose reductase, an enzyme in the sorbitol pathway of glucose metabolism, catalyzes the reduction of aldose sugar to sugar alcohols. Formation of excess sugar alcohols in Lens fibers leads to catarract formation which is one of the important diabetic complication process. Recently, many γ-pyron derivatives have been screened for their potential inhibitory activities on Aldose reductae. We investigated several coumarine derivatives on the Lens Aldose reductase-inhibitory activities. The results will be discussed in this paper.

Physical, mental and neuro-sensory subjective fatigue symptoms were investigated by questionnaire form on 433 electronic industrial workers (male 209, female 224) in order to measure the degree of fatigue caused by work. The data were analyzed by sex, age and duration of work. The following results were obtained. 1. All the symptoms of the study group were higher than those of the control group both before and after work. 2. Physical fatigue was the highest, and then mental and neurosensory fatigue in order. 3. In male workers, all the symptoms showed an increasing tendency as workers' ages increase. 4. There was a tendency that the symptoms of fatigue increased as the duration of work was longer. 5. The correlation and regression were analyzed before and after work in all the symptoms: Male; r=0.831, y=1.280x+20.950 Female; r=0.566, y=0.878x+35.642

From June 10,1982 to June 30,1982 investigations on the school-working environments of 167 high schools in Seoul were undertaken, which are the annual regular activities of the school pharmacists. classroom area, number of students, illumination of classroom and blackboard, noise and discomfort index were selected as main parameters to evaluate working condition. This investigation revealed out some negative aspects of school environmental management.
