Gear train system test rig of power circulating type was fabricated, and systematic experiment for measuring quasi-static characteristics of the planetary gear trains has been carried out using the test rig. The measured parameters are fillet strains of the sun gear and ring gear, carrier displacements, torques of the input and output shafts. The results are as follows : i) Even the loading torque is constant, torque variations of the input and output shafts are observed, ii) It has two components of frequency, low frequency of the input shaft rotation frequency and high frequency of the tooth meshing frequency, iii) The variations of the fillet strains of the sun and ring gear have the same tendency as that of the torques, iv) The loci of the carrier is so stable, and have relation with the shaft torque, v) The amplitude of the loci decrease and its shape becomes so simple as rotational speed increases. but this tendency is contrary as with the torque.<br/> <br/>
