A new efficient intelligent machining strategy named the Steepest Directed Tree method is presented in this study, which makes surface model discrete with triangulation meshes and the cutter paths track along the tree directions. In order to formulate these algorithms practically, it is deduced the multi-stage machining approach of uncut volume caused by cutter gouging in the course of milling using flat end mill. It is systematized the checking process the cutter interference by grouping the 6 kinds of gouging types, which yields the environment of connectivity data lists including CL-data, and then the multi-stage machining strategy, that minimizes uncut area by continuously sequencing the generative subsequent CL-paths, is shamed to determine the second tool path for the next uncut area and to compose the operating multi-stage cutting processes. The completed machining system of curved surfaces is evaluated by testing the practical machining experiments which have various kinds of shape conditions.

This paper presents the methodology for measuring eccentricity of the machined cylindrical part using CCS(cylindrical capacitance spindle sensor) signal in the CNC turning process. We use capacitance type sensor to take full advantage of averaging effect by using large capacitance area to encompass the whole side of a sensor. The intentionally proposed initial eccentricity is applied to the experimental testpieces, and their resultant relationships between CCS orbits and eccentricities are investigated. As a result, the possibility as a automatic detection apparatus for the CNC lathe is considered based on the linearities of CCS signal and magnitude of eccentricity of machined cylindrical surfaces.
엔드밀을 이용한 곡면모델 CNC 절삭경로의 가공성능 향상

The characteristics of terrace volume of rough cutting are analysed in order to investigate the variation of cutting force and cutting area formation. The cutting forces are analysed by comparing the result of numerical analysis on the measurement of cutting force and theoretical prediction of cutting area formation and specific cutting volume. Terrace volume workpieces are manufactured with 19 different shapes according to the variation of terrace volume factor, tool diameter factor, and cutting depth factor. Each workpiece is machined by CNC machining center with flat end mill along the round surface of terrace volume. The variation of cutting force is measured by dynamometer. It is verified that theoretical prediction of cutting area formation is correspond to practically measured cutting force and the cutting force valued by numerical analysis. The value of terrace volume after rough cutting shall be utilized as adaptive controlled data for variable feed which makes possible to control the cutting force within a specific value at the processing of terrace volume.

The discharge gap clearly is to order and to promote the improvement of processing feature of die-sinking electro discharge machining(EDM). If creation carbon, which generated by pyrolysis of EDM oil and processing pace power which is generated in between an electrode and a workpiece, are overproduced, they will lower the processing speed and roughness of the surface. Therefore, it is gone through the flow analysis of EDM oil in order to improve the treatment of processing chips, which is an important problem by contriving a new flushing method. The condition of an electric discharge is not considered to be a progressing of processing. It is assumed that the flow of processing fluid is equal to the flow of processing chip, which is remaining in the discharge gap, and analyzing its correlation.

The grinding machine bed was designed and manufactured by using epoxy-granite materials. Finite element technique was employed to design and analyze the composite bed structure. Von Mises stress and relative displacements between a tool and a workpiece were checked to compared a cast iron bed structure with a composite bed structure. Dynamic features of structures were also studied according to the process of model was also designed using the accumulation of knowledge based onthe use of the structural analysis and experiments. Comparing with the cast iron bed structure, the composite bed structure maintains better functions.

The progress in nanotechnology necessitates the development of novel tools for manufacturing nanodevices. In this study, the structural integrated system of FIB and FE-SEM and Nano-stage is designed to satisfy the constrains in the precise nano-device requirements based on the static and dynamic analysis. Static features of structures were investigated according to the gravity center and static deflection of the 4 kinds of models. Dynamic features of structures were also investigated on the modal analysis which is analyzed by the dynamic characteristics with various natural frequency domain and mode shapes. The results of analyzed features were correlated with the nano-scale affect of system.

Laser scanner are getting used for inspection and reverse engineering in industry such as motors, electronic products, dies and molds. However, due to the lack of efficient scanning technique, the tasks become limited to the low accuracy purpose. The main reasons for this limitation for usefulness are caused from the optical drawback, such as irregular reflection, scanning direction normal to measuring surface, the influence of surface integrity, and other optical disturbances. To overcome these drawback of laser scanner, this study propose the mechanism to reduce the optical trouble by using the 2 kinds of rotational movement axis and by composing the spherical coordinate to scanning the surface keeping normal direction consistently. So, it could be designed and interfaced the measuring device to realize that mechanism, and then it could acquisite the accurate 3D form cloud data. Also, these data are compared with the standard master ball and the data acquisited from the touch point sensor, to evaluate the accuracy and stability of measurement and to demonstrate the implementation of an dental tooth purpose system.
Polishing Characteristics of Cusp Volume Left After Ball End Milling

The polishing characteristics of machined surface after ball end milling are studied in this paper quantitatively to investigate the optimum machining conditions(i.e. crossfeed and cutter size in ball end milling) which minimize the total machining time including polishing and milling process. The polishing experiments are formulated into the incremental changing task of sand paper meshes bounded by the allowable limit roughness for each abrasive grit size. Testpieces are prepared by milling the flat steel block to have the terraced surface for the different milling crossfeed and cutter size, and the polishing devices is installed on a grinding machine table, which simulates the actual polishing work as specified stroke and acting pressure. The polishing efficiency is investigated during the polishing experiment, and then eventually polishing time is evaluated for various kinds of conditions, and it is finally analyzed the total machining time which is estimated by adding the milling time to the polishing time of corresponding testpieces.
