In 2014, growing stock of korea forest was about 924 million m3 and increase to 973 million m3 in 2017. Meanwhile, there is 8.4million m3 of timber supply in 2017 which 4.8million m3 timber were came from Korean domestic wood, mostly small diameter wood. Particleboard is one of the alternative product which can be increase the utilization of Korean species. This study investigate the properties of particle board using 10 Korean wood species. Korean larch(Larix kaempferi), Manchurian walnut (Juglans mandshurica), Japanese white birch (Betula platyphylla), Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), Pitch Pine (Pinus rigida), Oriental flowering cherry (Prunus serrulata f.spontanea), Oak (Quercus spp.), Acacia (Acacia spp.), Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora), and Hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) are prepared as sawdust materials. All sawdust are manufacturing to be particleboard using melamine formaldehyde adhesive and ammonium chloride was applied as hardener. Particleboards were manufactured using hot press at 125°C for 5 minute and were conditioned on the cold press. The physical and mechanical properties of particleboard are tested based on KS standard F 3104 : 2016 for particleboard. Density, moisture content, thickness swelling, and water adsorption are tested for physical properties. In another side, modulus of rupture and internal bond are tested to measured the mechanical properties of Particleboard. Formaldehyde emission was investigated using dessicator methods according to KS M 1998: 2017 and UV spectrophotometer was used at wavelength 412 nm to analyze the quantity of formaldehyde emission in particleboard.
