In this paper, LED traffic signal lamp"s operating circuit using Flyback converter and PFC IC has been presented. Most power conversion circuits use PFC IC for Power Factor Correction. The design parameter"s value of Flyback converter has been proposed and the error amplifier which regulates the output voltage has been designed. Besides, the under voltage protection circuit and the over voltage protection circuit for protecting the operating circuit from unbalance of common electric power source and the temperature compensation circuit for fixed optical output power have been proposed.

This paper proposed the new harmonic detection system for the source current with the large frequency variation. The harmonic detection system is designed of the analog circuit and is composed of a low pass filter, a DC-level converter using the PLL, the Voltage controlled GIC.

Instead of the incandescent lamps the LED lamps have been used on the traffic signal lamp with the advantages of small loss, no lens and long life. In this paper, we have compared three kinds of the LED controller structures and showed the LED array decision methods. We studied the temperature characteristics on LED and the temperature compensation network. The experimental results showed that the electrical characteristics of three kinds of the LED controller structures were different each other. We concluded that the temperature compensation is the important technique, the best compensation network has the ±10% variation for the luminous intensity.

In this paper, we have presented comparative characteristics of band-pass filter and high-pass filter using VCGIC(Voltage Controlled Genenalized Impedance Converter), which are the non-linearized VCR(Voltage Controlled Resistance) and the linearized VCR. We concluded that the linearized VCGIC circuit has the wide dynamic range and the improved linearity.
