전통짜임을 활용한 넉-다운 테이블 디자인 연구

현대생활공간에서 유행하고 있는 조립식 가구인 넉-다운 가구는 판재나 각재 등 미리 준비한 재료를 본인이 직접 기본적으로 끼우거나 맞추는 방식에 의해 제작하는 가구이므로 전통짜임을 이용하기에 매우 적합하다. 이에 본 연구는 전통짜임을 넉-다운 구조에 활용 가능한 짜임을 판재와 각재에서의 쓰임과 위치를 파악하여 분류하고 이를 실제 디자인에 적용하여 넉-다운 가구개발에 다양한 활용 가능성을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법으로는 넉-다운 가구에 활용할 수 있는 짜임을 추출하기 위해 장인들이 주로 사용하는 71개의 전통짜임 종류 중 접착제 사용 없이 조립과 해체가 쉬우며, 안정적이면서 견고한 구조를 이룰 수 있는 짜임들을 분류하고, 각재와 각재, 각재와 판재, 판재와 판재에 따라 사용되는 짜임과 접합 부분이 안쪽과 끝부분에 사용되는 위치에 따른 짜임을 분류하였다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 각각 다른 짜임을 이용하여 다양한 구조의 테이블을 디자인하고 넉-다운 가구 구조에 활용하기 적합한 짜임을 제시하였다. 넉-다운 테이블을 제작한 결과 첫째, 각재와 각재의 구조보다는 판재와 판재, 판재와 각재의 구조로 서로 끼우고 맞추는 것이 안정적임을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 한가지의 짜임으로는 쉽게 빠지거나 서로 잡아주는 힘이 부족함으로 두 개 이상의 짜임을 같이 결합했을 때 그 구조가 안정적이다. 셋째, 접착제 없이 짜임만으로 형태가 만들어져 서로 끼우고 맞춰 제작해야 하므로 복잡한 형태보다는 단순한 특징을 보인다. 짜임은 테이블 이외에도 다양한 넉-다운 가구개발에 활용될 수 있으며, 가구뿐만 아니라 다른 제품이나 구조물에도 응용하여 활용함으로써 우리의 전통짜임이 다양한 분야에서 활성화될 수 있기를 기대한다. Knock-down furniture is very suitable for using traditional Zzaim because it is furniture produced by a user's direct fitting or fitting method. The purpose of this study is to identify the use and location of traditional Zzaim that can be used in the knock-down structure, and to apply it to design to present the possibility of use in the development of knock-down furniture. Among the traditional Zzaims, Zzaims that are easy to assemble and dismantle without the use of adhesives and can form a stable and robust structure were classified, and Zzaims used according to narrow trees and wide plates and Zzaims according to bonding positions were classified. As a result of producing a knock-down table, first, it can be seen that it is more stable to fit and fit each other with a wide plate structure rather than a narrow wooden structure. Second, the structure is stable when two or more Zzaims are combined together because one Zzaim lacks the power to easily fall out or hold. Third, the shape is made of only Zzaim without adhesive, showing simpler characteristics than a complex shape. In addition to tables, Zzaim can be used to develop various knock-down furniture, and it is expected that our traditional Zzaim can be activated in various fields by applying it not only to furniture but also to other products and structures.

계정혜(戒定慧) 삼학(三學)은 깨달음을 얻기 위해서 필수적인 조건이다. 계율 중에서는 불살생계가 가장 중요한 위치를 차지한다. 그래서 모든 계율의 조목 가운데서도 항상 첫 번째 항목으로 강조되고 있다. 그러나 경전을 자세히 살펴보면 불교에서의 계율은 깨달음을 얻는 것과 고통을 벗어나기 위한 하나의 수단이라는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 불살생계는 인간으로 하여금 생명의 소중함을 알게 하고, 자비심을 기르게 하며, 모든 중생들이 고통 없이 조화롭게 살 수 있도록 하기 위한 방편일 뿐 목적은 아닌 것이다. 그러므로 시대적 환경에 맞도록 생태적, 중도적인 관점에서 불살생관의 시각을 달리 하여야 하리라고 생각된다. 현대는 산업의 발달과 인구의 증가로 인한 오염으로 생태위기가 심각한 시점이다. 발달된 과학 문명의 혜택을 누리는 우리의 행위는 하나하나가 환경오염의 원인이 되므로 우리들 어느 누구든 생태계의 교란에 대한 책임을 면할 수 있는 사람은 없을 것이다. 환경의 오염은 모든 생명체들에게 고통을 가져다줄 뿐 아니라, 생물의 죽음이나 멸종을 가져오고 있다. 이러한 일이 내 눈앞에서 벌어지지 않는다 해서, 단지 파리, 모기, 개미 등의 미물조차도 죽이지 않는 것만으로 ‘나는 불살생계를 잘 지킨다’라고 말 할 수는 없는 것이다. 미시적 개체적 생명관에서 거시적 유기적 생명관으로 향하는 것이 바로 생태적 생명관인 것이다. The three studies(Morality, Concentration and Wisdom) are absolutely essential for Enlightenment. The most important part in the Morality is Ahimsa(the rule of No-Killing). Therefore, Ahimsa is concidered as the first priority in morality. But the Sutra teaches that the Morality is a means of Enlightenment which overcomes suffering(duḥkha). Ahimsa is not an object, but just skillful means which help us to know the importance and preciousness of life and to cultivate the compassion and to live harmoniously. Therefore, we have to change our viewpoint on Ahimsa adaptable to the current interpretation of ecology and middle way. With the development of science and the sudden increase of population, we, all, are responsible for the pollution of environment. Therefore no one can escape from the responsibility for the destruction of our ecosystem. The pollution of environment brings us not only the suffering of all sentient being but also the extinction of species. Accordingly it's not the right attitude of ecosattva to overlook the current environmental pollution, insisting that he keeps Ahimsa by just not killing small insect such as flies, mosquitos, ants, and etc. In this sense, the real ecological outlook on life should be directed from the traditional microscopic and individual viewpoints to the macroscopic and total viewpoints. So in this paper, I'd like to suggest the way of ecosattva in order to minimize the destruction of environment

전통 짜임을 응용한 테이블웨어 개발 연구 - 플레이트 중심으로 -

Plates, a type of tableware, are manufactured in various materials and in various shapes, but wooden plates have limitations in morphological diversity compared to plates made of other materials. In this paper, by applying Zzaim, which has been used as a method of binding in traditional architecture and furniture in Korea, to a plate, it is not only a role for simply placing food on a plate, but also a user’s direct use of the shape to make traditional Zzaim easy to encounter in modern life. It is intended for extensibility. As a research method to define the design concept and direction of the plate to which the Zzaim structure is applied, 1) a method of differentiation was sought through morphological analysis by investigating the wooden plates currently on the market, 2) understanding Zzaim as a means of modeling, and Structural characteristics were analyzed through the investigation of products to which the concept of Zzaim was applied. 3) In order to develop a product differentiated from the prototype, three elements, Bangdusanji, Sipjjabanteok, and Gidungsage, were finally extracted by substituting and analyzing planar utilization, decorativeness, originality, interest, and tradition as elements of Zzaim extraction suitable for applying Zzaim to the plate. These can be deformed in a plane according to the design and are decorative, and their shape is original, and users can feel interested while trying to fit them directly. The Bangdusanji, Sipjjabanteok, and Gidungsage plates that can faithfully serve as a plate by expressing the structure and shape of the extracted Zzaim as it is in the design and adding functions to it were developed and presented. This is expected to be an opportunity to show the popular propagation of our traditional technique of Zzaim in modern society and the diverse formativeness of simple wooden plates. In addition, it is expected that the application of traditional Zzaim will be activated in each field of modern design other than tableware, breaking away from the fixed frame of techniques used in architecture and furniture. 테이블웨어의 한 종류인 플레이트는 다양한 소재와 여러 형태로 제작되고 있지만, 나무 소재의 플레이트는 다른 소재의 플레이트에 비해 형태적인 다양함에서 한계를 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 우리나라의 전통 건축과 가구에서 결구의 방법으로 사용되었던 짜임을 플레이트에 응용하여 단순히 음식을 올려놓는용도의 역할뿐만 아니라 사용자가 직접 형태를 맞춰 사용함으로써 전통 짜임이 현대 생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 확장성을 목적으로 한다. 짜임 구조가 적용된 플레이트의 디자인 컨셉과 방향성의 정의를위한 연구방법으로 1)현재 시중에 나와 있는 나무 플레이트를 조사하여 형태적인 분석을 통해 차별화방법을 모색하였으며 2)조형 작업의 수단으로서의 짜임을 이해하고 짜임개념이 적용된 제품들에 대한조사를 통해 구조적 특징을 분석했다. 3)시제품과 차별성 있는 제품개발을 위해 짜임을 플레이트에 응용하기 적합한 짜임추출의 요소로 평면활용, 장식성, 독창성, 흥미성, 전통성을 대입하고 분석하여 최종적으로 방두산지짜임, 십자반턱짜임, 기둥사개짜임을 추출하였다. 이들은 디자인에 따라 평면변형이 가능하고 장식적이며 그 형태가 독창적이고 사용자가 직접 맞춰보면서 흥미를 느낄 수 있으며, 이들 짜임으로 완성된 구조는 전통적인 멋을 느끼기에 충분하다. 이렇게 추출된 짜임의 구조와 형태를 조형적으로 디자인에 그대로 표현하고 여기에 기능을 부가시켜 플레이트로서 역할에도 충실할 수 있는 ‘방두산지 플레이트, 십자반턱 플레이트, 기둥사개 플레이트’를 개발하여 제시하였다. 이는 현대사회에 우리 전통적인 기술인 짜임기법의 대중적인 전파와 단순한 나무 플레이트의 다양한 조형성을 보여줄 수 있는계기가 될 것으로 본다. 더불어 전통 짜임의 응용은 건축과 가구에서 사용되는 기법이라는 고정적인 틀에서 벗어나 테이블웨어 이외에도 현대디자인의 각 분야에 활성화되기를 기대한다.
