스마트패드용 전자교재의 설계유형에 따른 사용편의성, 인지부하, 상호작용 과정에 대한 분석

이 연구의 목적은 전자교재의 설계유형에 따라 사용편의성, 인지부하, 상호작용 과정에서 어떠한 차이가 나타나는지를 탐색하기 위한 것이다. 이 연구를 통해 성인 학습자에게 적합한 전자교재 개발을 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이 연구에서는 세 종류의 전자교재를 적용해서 분석했으며, 이러한 종류의 구분은 상호작용성의 수준에 따른 것으로 이북형, 앱북형, 인터랙티브형으로 적용했다. 연구에 참여한 대상자는 6명이었으며, 20∼60대의 연령층을 포함하여 표집하였다. 전자교재 활용 과정을 분석하기 위하여 설문과 비디오분석 기법이 적용되었다. 설문을 통해 사용편의성과 인지부하요인의 발생 수준을 분석했으며, 상호작용 과정을 분석하기 위해서 사용자의 전자책 사용과정을 기록한 비디오를 분석했다. 사용편의성 평가에서 이북형과 앱북형은 높은 점수를 얻었지만, 인터랙티브형은 낮은 점수를 받았다. 인터랙티브형은 성인 학습자들에게 편리하지 않을 수 있다는 점을 시사하는 결과이다. 인지부하 검사 결과에서 인터랙티브형이 상대적으로 ‘과제 부담’과 ‘용이성 지각’이 높게 나타난 반면에 이북형과 앱북형은 ‘정신적 노력’과 ‘자기평가’에서 높은 수치를 나타났다. 전체 학습시간은 인터랙티브형, 앱북형, 이북형의 순으로 나타났으며, 읽기 과정에 대한 질적 분석 결과 순서대로 페이지를 넘겨가며 학습하는 ‘계단식 읽기’ 패턴과 목차 페이지의 하이퍼링크 기능 및 검색 기능을 활용하여 ‘확장식 읽기’ 패턴이 나타났다. 면담을 통해 학습자들이 이북형과 앱북형에서 편안함, 안정감을 느낄 수 있었지만 인터랙티브형은 몰입하기 어려웠다는 의견이 많았다. The purpose of this study was to investigate how users are interacting with e-textbook. This study was conducted to obtain basic empirical data and suggestions for the development of e-books that take into account learning experience. Six participants were asked to use three types of e-textbooks (epub based e-book, app book, and interactive book). The descriptive results of the usability questionnaire showed that the students with e-books and app books reported higher scores. The results of the assessment of the level of cognitive load showed that interactive app books rated relatively high in task demand and perceived difficulties. The video analysis revealed that the total time of reading was getting longer in the order of interactive book, app book, and e-book. The graphic analysis of page path showed two patterns: 1) linear and 2) expansionary patterns. The linear pattern indicated that the tendency to progress the reading task page by page. The expansionary pattern emerged more for the interactive app book than for the other books. With regard to individual type, the linear pattern emerged in elderly, female, and low-skilled readers, while the expansionary pattern emerged in male readers in their 30s. In the interview, the participants reported that they were more comfortable with ordinary e-books and app books, and most of them found it difficult to concentrate with interactive app books. They rated e-books as the most useful type of electronic book; the reason for this might be the active learning experience it provides through the viewer, which allows one to search and highlight text and create memos and bookmarks.
