The paper aims to offer a theological response to Richard Dawkins' bestseller The God Delusion from missional points of view. Authors give critiques to Dawkins' blinded trust over science and raidical reductionism with th e following three perspectives. First , There is a logical fault in Dawkins' Meme theory. His Meme theory has nor been approved by his peer scientists as a solid and scientific fact; but he uses the Meme theory to persuade that all cultural, including religious, stuffs indeed are det ermined by th e free flows of the Meme. His over-confidence in the function of the Meme lack s the original location of the self and th e role of th e self. Second , Dawk ins argues that religion is "the virus of mind" In his argumentive book. Furthermore, he regarded "god" as human delusion wherein the tide of the book has been made. He lists all kinds of negative symptoms in th e history of religion. He blames Christianity and the hristian God as the cause of malicious war and violence. However, it seems th at his arguments are not logical. There are many wars that have not been related the issues of religion . The ideological violence rook in the history of early-twenty century in Russia was not related to religion and the socialists" revolutionary violence aimed to atheistic view Third. Dawkins' provocative arguments lack of supporting proofs from physics. H is at tac ks against monotheistic religion is indeed a combat between an American fundamemtalistic religion and an angry biologist. There arc still room for theologians who mu st provides collective and profound interpretation about the mystery of th e self and God.
염증성 치은에 대한 Nd:YAG laser 조사효과에 관한 임상적 연구

Periodontal disease is characterized by destruction of supporting tissues caused by invasion of plaque bacteria and defense mechanism of host. Many dentists are very interested in laser therapy on various intraoral soft tissue lesions including inflammatory periodontal pocket. In order to determine the therapeutic effect of intrapocket irradiation of a pulsed- Nd : YAG laser on the inflammatory periodontal pockets, bilateral 60 teeth with 4-6mm in probing pocket depth and gingival inflammation were selected and evaluated by sulcus bleeding index(SBI), and plaque index(pI) for baseline record. Intrapocket irradiation($300{\mu}m$ fiber optic, I.5W power, for 2 min.) of a pulsed-Nd : YAG laser(EL.EN.EN060, Italy) was applied on half of them. As the control group, the same procedure except power-off was repeated on the contralateral 30 teeth. At 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-week after intrapocket manipulation, every tooth was reevaluated by the same clinical indices. And the difference between the lased group and control group was statistically analyzed by paired t-test and Chi-square test in Microstat program. Following results were obtained: 1. Until I-week and 2-week after intrapocket manipulation, SBI was lowered in both lased group and control group, compared to baseline SBI, but from 3-week after, the recovering tendency toward baseline was noted, and at only 2-week after, the number of teeth showing lowered SBI was significantly more in lased group than in control group(p<0.05). 2. PI of both lased group and control group was lowered through whole experimental period from I-week to 4-week after, compared to baseline PI(p<0.05), but there was no significant difference between lased group and control group(p>0.1). The results suggest that intrapocket irradiation of a pulsed-Nd:YAG laser may lead somewhat remission of gingival inflammation, but for more favorable therapeutic result the thorough root planing should be necessarily accompanied with gingival curettage.

This paper is concerned with the optimum design for external reinforcement of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel(RPV) in a severe accident. During the severe reactor accident of molten core, the temperature and the pressure in the nuclear reactor rise to a certain level depending on the initial and subsequent condition of a severs accident. The reis of the temperature and the internal pressure cause deterioration of the load carrying capacity and could cause failure of the RPV lower head. The deterioration of failure can be mitigated by the external cooling or the reinforcement of the lower head with additional structures. While the external cooling forces the temperature of an RPV to drop to the desired level, the reinforcement of the lower head can attain both the increase of the load carrying capacity and the temperature drop. The reinforcement of the lower head can be optimized to have the maximum effect on the collapse pressure and the temperature at the inner wall. Optimization results are compared to both the result without the reinforcement and the result with the designated reinforcement.

In order to prevent the sharp edge during the side impact, a cause analysis and CAE based risk prediction were carried out in this study. It was found that sharp edge occurs mainly because of stiffness difference between the major parts and structural stress concentration. It could be improved by directly reinforcing the crack initiation region or by weakening the joints connecting the parts. The fracture criterion based on major in-plain strain was suggested and the risk prediction process for sharp edge prevention was established.

This study is to investigate the type, process and context of inquiry activities in life science textbooks based on the seventh curriculum. Six kinds of science textbooks were analysed. Three units of life science were analysed; `the structure of living things`, `digestion and circulation` and `respiration and excretion`. As result of analysis, types, processes and skills, and context of inquiry were not balanced, it is suggested that learners be educated with complementary of this aspects. To develope the science textbook on the basis of aims and objectives of curriculum, it is proposed that the inquiry activities presented in science textbooks be examined, and the framework to evaluate inquiry activities be reflected on the standard of science textbook authorization

A two-year-old mixed breed sow was requested to the Veterinary Pathology Laboratory of Cheju National University with a clinical signs of severe abdominal pain and sudden death. Grossly, there was severe hemorrhage in abdominal cavity. Most of internal parenchymas and subcutaneous muscle showed severe pale discoloration. Both ovaries were enlarged with oval to round protruding multilobular masses and dark red in color. And they were firm and contained multiple small cysts in their cut surface. Histopathologically, numerous neoplastic granulosa cells had spherical-to-oval, hyperchromatic nuclei and scant eosinophilic cytoplasms were distributed with follicular pattern in ovarian masses. And the typical Call-Exner bodies, distinctive microcavityies, were observed in the center of small neoplastic follicles. Based on the gross and histopathologic findings, this case was diagnosed as granulosa cell tumor. In our best knowledge, this is believed to be the first report of granulosa cell tumor in a sow in Korea.
식물생장촉진근권세균 Bacillus subtilis YGB36을 이용한 고추 탄저병의 생물학적 방제

Red pepper, one of the major economic crops in Korea, is being affected by anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum acutatum. To control this disease, an antagonistic bacterial strain, Bacillus subtilis YGB36 identi- fied by 16S rDNA sequencing, physiological and biochemical analyses is used as a biological control agent. In vitro screening revealed that the strain YGB36 possess strong antifungal activity against the pathogen Cylindrocarpon destructans. The strain exhibited cellulase, protease, amylase, siderophore production and phosphate solubility. In vitro conidial germination of C. acutatum was most drastically inhibited by YGB36 cell suspensions (106 cfu/ml) or culture filtrate. Development of anthracnose symptoms was reduced on de- tached immature green pepper fruits by treatment with cell suspensions, and its control value was recorded as 65.7%. The YGB36 bacterial suspension treatment enhanced the germination rate of red pepper seeds and promoted root development and growth under greenhouse conditions. The in vitro screening of fungicide and insecticide sensitivity test against YGB36 revealed that the bacterial growth was not affected by any of the insecticides, and 11 fungicides out of 21 used. Collectively, our results clearly suggest that the strain YGB36 is considered as one of the potential biocontrol agents against anthracnose disease in red pepper.
국민공통 기본 교육과정 과학과 생명영역 물질대사 관련 탐구활동 분석

The purpose of this study was to examine the connection among inquiry activities related to `Metabolism` presented in life science textbooks developed according to the national common basic curriculum. To perform this, the type, process and context of inquiry activities of life science textbooks were analyzed. The number of inquiry activities is gradually increased from elementary to secondary school. As result of analysis, types, processes and skills, and context of inquiry were not balanced according to textbooks and school levels. It is suggested that the framework of evaluating inquiry activities based on curriculum objectives be provided when developing science textbooks. It also implies that teachers need to reconstruct inquiry contents and activities suitable to school situations when they teach in the real fields of education.
