The mediational model is one of the most commonly used statistical methods in the social sciences as well as in psychology. However, there are some instances where the results are hard to interpret, one of which is inconsistent mediation. The inconsistent mediation refers to the case that the direct and indirect effects have differing signs or that the magnitude of the direct effect exceeds that of the total effect, which is a suppression effect. Despite the models with the inconsistent mediation is getting more popular and important, there is a lack of research providing guidance on plausible interpretation of the results. This study aims to integrate and classify diverse types of the inconsistent mediation and to propose a typology that one can refer to for proper interpretation of the results. We first review the traditional mediation analysis and its criticism in terms of the inconsistent mediational effect. We then explain the theoretical and methodological concepts of the inconsistent mediation and try to structuralize the patterns of interpretation by exploring empirical studies. Finally, we discuss the implications as well as the limitations of the present study. 매개모형은 심리학을 포함한 사회과학 분야에서 매우 널리 사용되는 연구 주제로 자리 잡았 으나, 종종 적절한 해석이 어려운 결과가 발생하곤 하는데 그 중 하나가 비일관적 매개모형 이다. 비일관적 매개모형이란 직접효과와 간접효과의 부호가 다르거나 혹은 그로 인해 총효 과보다 직접효과의 크기가 큰 억제효과가 발생한 모형을 일컫는다. 비일관적 매개모형이 연 구자의 직관적인 이해에 어긋나 의미 해석에 어려움을 줌에도 불구하고, 이러한 모형을 이해 하고 해석하기 위해 참고할 수 있는 방법론적 연구가 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구는 매 개모형의 틀 안에서 비일관적 매개모형을 분류하고 관련 개념들을 소개하며, 비일관적 매개 가 발생하였을 때 내용 영역 연구자가 참고할 수 있는 유형화된 해석 방향을 제안하고자 한 다. 우선 일반적인 매개모형 분석의 관점을 설명하고 이와 모순되는 결과인 비일관적 매개모 형에 대해 논의한다. 다음으로 실제 비일관적 매개모형 연구들을 탐색․정리하여 해석의 유 형을 구조화하고, 구체적인 예를 들어 해석의 방식을 제공한다. 또한 도표를 활용해 비일관적 매개모형 중 억제효과가 발생하는 수리적 영역에 대해 다루며, 마지막으로 위의 논의들을 종 합해 본 연구가 갖는 의의와 한계에 대해 논한다.

본 논문에서는 물체의 경계나 형태 추출을 위하여 레벨 세트 이론을 바탕으로 한 새로운 곡선 전개방법을 제안한다. 특히 전처리 과정에서 잡음의 효과적 처리를 위하여 기존의 필터 방식들이 가지는 단점인 경계 부분의 bluning 현상을 줄이고 정확한 에지 위치를 보존할 수 있는 비등방성 확산 필터(anisotropic diffusion filter)를 사용한다. 기존의 레벨 세트 방식이 수축이나 팽창 중 단지 한가지의 방식만 적용되어지는 반면, 제안한 방법은 물체의 경계 추출시 팽창과 수축이 통시에 가능하므로 특히 초기 곡선이 여러 물체에 걸쳐져 있는 경우에도 정확한 형태 추출이 가능하였다. 아울러 초기 곡선의 설정이 위치나 형태에 거의 제한을 받지 않기 때문에 추출을 원하는 영역이 아주 조금만 포함되어 있어도 정화한 형태 추출이 가능하였다.
NMR에 의한 anti-Ex-A IgG의 항원결합부위 해석

The anti-Ex-A IgG was specifically labeled with stable isotopes, DL-His-2,4-d2, L-Phe-d5, L-Trp-d5, L-Tyr-2,6-d2 and L-[1-13C]Trp, by growing hybridoma cell in serum-free medium. By use of NMR spectroscopy with selectively labeled Fab fragment, we applied a paratope mapping on antigen-antibody complex. Assignments of the observed carbonyl carbon resonances have been determined by using 13C-15N double labeling method in order to assign the Trp resonances. Photo CIDNP was also applied to investigate the antigen-binding site(s) on the surface residues of antibody. We found that Trp 36, which is located at the VH domain, is an important residue to bind to Ex-A, however, two Tyr on the surface of anti-Ex-A IgG plays no crucial role to bind to antigen. On the basis of these results, we demonstrate that stable isotope-aided NMR strategy can be extended to molecular structural analyses of the complex of an Fab fragment and a protein antigen.

The anti-dansyl antibodies were specifically labeled with stable isotope by growing hybridoma cells in serum-free medium. Assignments of the observed carbonyl carbon resonances have been determined by using 13C-15N double labeling method in order to assign the Leu resonances. However, when the identical dipeptide appears more than twice in the polypeptide sequences, we applied the proteolytic fragments in the fragment-specific method. Carboxypeptidase B-treated antibody has also been used to assign the Lys-447 in C terminal amino acid. These unambiguously assigned carbonyl carbon resonances in antibodies are thought to be useful in elucidating not only the structure of antibodies but also the structure-function relationship in the antibody by 13C neuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

This paper proposes the pattern matching algorithm using registration that calculates the distance between model and data image. The proposed algorithm extracts two partial data from two images, model and data image, and calculates rotation and translation value between two data. Then, data image moves to the new position, and the error(distance) between two images is calculated. Above process continues all points around model shape. Finally, a point with the smallest error is eslected at the start point, and the data image is matched to the model image using the point. While the sample data used in this experiment is composed of model and data image, the model shape is an original image, and the data shape is an image which matches the model shape. The experimental result by three sample data shows the fact that data shape matches model shape finely, and the possiblity that the result be applied to pattern recognition using the proposed algorithm.
Characterization of macrophage stimulating compound in glycated whey protein concentrate

Whey, a by-product of cheese making, is a collectionof several milk proteins and has functional andnutritional values. Whey protein concentrate (WPC) exhibitsvarious functional effects by glycation. Studies to findsugar-binding sites in a protein having a functional effectare reported. However, it is rarely clear whether it confirmsthat glycated single protein exhibits the same effect ofprotein cluster. This study confirmed which protein sitesare responsible for the effect of glycated WPC (G-WPC). b-Lactoglobulin (LG) was the major protein of G-WPC andglycated with lactose. The glycated LG increased the nitricoxide and cytokine secretion similar to G-WPC and peptidesequences of active compound was confirmed using thehigh molecular weight band of G-WPC. The K151 andK157 residues of LG were modified by glycation withsugar in common with G-WPC. These residues of glycatedLG potentially contribute to the immune-modulation effectof G-WPC.
