Objectives : This study was did a meta-analysis of emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management education interventions in asthma among adult patients with asthma. Methods : A search of the database PubMed resulted in identifying 8,619 studies done between January 1990 and November 2012. STATA version 10.0 was used to analyze the effect size, explore possible causes of heterogeneity, and determine publication bias with a funnel plot. Results : We included 7 cases on emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management and education. Asthmatic patients experienced fewer attacks (summary effect size, 0.75; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.65-0.95). We found that emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management and education were associated with statistically significant effects. Conclusions : Based on these finding, self management and education on interventions are necessary to prevent asthmatic attacks in patients and to reduce the severity of the attacks, and self management and education programs are needed in Korea.

김채봉,김규상 한국융합학회 2017 한국융합학회논문지 Vol.8 No.10
In this study, phenomenological methodology was used to understand the experience of family management style in mothers who have children with atopic dermatitis. For study methods, in-depth interview was conducted on 9 mothers residing in Seoul and the approach from phenomenological methodology by Colaizzi was used. As a result, 69 significant statements were deduced as well as 21 themes, 10 theme clusters, and 4 categories. These main categories include experiences of accepting atopic dermatitis as a reality, family management style for overcoming atopic dermatitis, reality of facing chronic fatigue, and hope and expectation for the child’s health. Our study show that the intervention for improving family management style regarding atopic dermatitis is required including the enhancement of the mothers’ quality of life and the recovery of family relationship.

Since 2000, South Korea has had seven cases of infectious diseases. The study used Google Trends to analyze public interest in infectious diseases. The Google Trend data was set up from January 2004 to July 2017. We selected keywords related to 5 infectious diseases(H1N1, Ebola-virus, H7N9, MERS-CoV, ZIKA-virus) and suggested trends and distribution in Korea and around the world. We found two results. The first, the worldwide pattern of infectious disease search (peak) and Korea's pattern (peak) were the same. The second, since the end of the epidemic, the world and Korea have seen a sharp drop in interest in the epidemic. We found that in the case of MERS-CoV or 2019-nCoV, we need to value social safety and maker sustainable preparations. Building trust with the people is also important in times of crisis and require communication strategies between the media and the government.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to determine the association between musculoskeletal workload and job stress in early childcare teachers. Methods : This study was based on The Korean Working Condition Survey conducted on wage workers. The total number of individuals included in the analysis was 395 (286 childcare teachers and 109 kindergarten teachers) early childcare teachers in 2011. The collected data were analyzed by frequency statistic, cross-tabulation analysis and logistic regression. Results : The adjusted odds ratio showed a statistically effective association for job stress exposure. The results were as follows: education level, service environment, emotional labor, fatigue or posture led to pain for a high level of job stress. Additionally, for childcare teachers, the results showed that fatigue or posture led to pain when moving a heavy object frequently. Conclusions : When childcare teachers are assigned a task to lift heavy or awkward or objects, care should be taken on who is assigned the task, and it should be done safely. An intervention program should be developed to train childcare teachers to safely and efficiency do heavy labor in early childcare education classes.

Working the night-shift and long working hours may be linked to insomnia. The purpose of this study is to determine the association between night-shift work and long working-hours with regard to subjective insomnia in Korean workers. This study was based on the Third Korean Working Condition Survey (KWCS) conducted on workers in 2011. The total number of individuals included in the analysis was 34,708 workers. Adjusted odd ratios showed statistically effective associations to insomnia. For night-shift work, the results were 2.71 (1.53 - 4.82) for night shift work by experts and managers, 2.95 (2.11 - 4.11) for night- shift work by officers, and 3.90 (2.05 - 7.42) for night-shift work by engineers compared with day duty. For long working hours, the scores were 2.43 (1.68-3.51) for >52 working hours by officers, 1.72 (1.15 - 2.58) for those in sales and service compared to ≤40 working hours. We suggest the need for Korean workers to target specific groups when creating policies related to reasonable environmental conditions.
