A saturated region appears in an environment when changing illumination and lighting conditions suddenly. In this paper, we propose an image pre-processing method using an entropy-based metric of an image according to the change of indoor and outdoor illumination conditions. In this method, we show that two images of the same scene having different exposure values can be used to detect an over-exposed region through entropy information and restore a saturated region. The results show that our fused image is simple and practical.

Oil contained in domestic and industrial wastewater or marine spilled oil gives rise to severe environmental pollution issues such as water pollution and ecosystem destruction. The membrane filtration method as one of representative oil/water separation strategies has technological challenges such as membrane fouling and low separation rate. In this work, we devise a 3D-printed microhydrocyclone for oil/water separation by utilizing a digital lighting processing-based 3D printer. We demonstrate that the 3D-printed microhydrocyclone can effectively separate oil and water phases from oil-in-water emulsion.

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a system that companies can use to measure and control critical production activities. This paper shows case study of implementation of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and its methodology in a medium sized production company. This study focused on two important things in MES implementation. First, it provides critical success factors (CSFs) and construction method for success of MES implementation. Second, it presents guidelines for MES implementation in small and medium-size company. Some of the benefits with regards to MES implementation and its results are introduced in the end of this paper.

Side scanning sonar (SSS) provides valuable information for robot navigation. However using the side scanning sonar images in the navigation was not fully studied. In this paper, we use range data, and side scanning sonar images from UnderWater Simulator (UWSim) and propose measurement models in a feature based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) framework. The range data is obtained by echosounder and sidescanning sonar images from side scan sonar module for UWSim. For the feature, we used the A-KAZE feature for the SSS image matching and adjusting the relative robot pose by SSS bundle adjustment (BA) with Ceres solver. We use BA for the loop closure constraint of pose-graph SLAM. We used the Incremental Smoothing and Mapping (iSAM) to optimize the graph. The optimized trajectory was compared against the dead reckoning (DR).

Radiosonde is an important in-situ profiling instrument that measures atmospheric temperature, moisture, and wind structure from the surface to the middle stratosphere. The operational radiosonde measurements are carried out more than twice (at 0000 UTC and 1200 UTC) daily at approximately 1,300 World Meteorological Organization (WMO) stations and play a pivotal role in daily weather forecasts. It also contributes to the monitoring of atmospheric structure by providing the key physical information like temperature and pressure, forming the backbone of atmospheric (re)analyses and numerical weather forecasts. Additionally, high-resolution radiosonde profiles are used for calibration and evaluation of satellite products. Despite these advantages, radiosonde measurements are mostly limited to operational uses due to the high initial cost of ground instrument setup required for data transmission and reception. This study outlines a cost-effective (roughly one-tenth of the operational cost) method for establishing the ground station and the necessary radiosonde measurement procedures, offering guidance for individual researchers or university-level instructors.
