Allergic contact dermatitis (skin sensitization) may be caused by a wide variety of chemicals. A murine local lymph node assay(LLNA) has been developed as an alternative to guinea pig models for assessing the contact sensitization potential of chemical. This study was carried out to evaluate the skin sensitization potential for chemicals in Balb / c mice by LLNA. This study was carried out to investigate the skin sensitization potential of four allergenic chemicals, strong allergen, p-phenylenediamine (PPD), moderate allergen, cinnamaldehyde, and isoeugenol, and weak allergen, citral, by LLNA using a non-radioistopic endpoint. Female Balb/c mice were exposed topically to PPD, cinnamaldehyde, isoeugenol, and citral following LLNA protocol. Lymph node (LN) weight and cell proliferation in ears and auricular lymph node using bromode- oxyuridine (BrdU) immunohistochemistry were evaluated. Skin reactions, consisting of increased ear thickness and the presence of inflammatory infiltrates, were observed in mice treated with PPD, cinnamaldehyde, and isoeugenol compared to the vehicle control. The relative weight of the lymph nodes in the mice treated with four allergen were increased compared to vehicle control. The SI values in lymph nodes of the mice exposed to 10% PPD and 30% isoeugenol were increased more than threefold compared with that of the control. The SI values of the chemicals showed the comparative strength of proliferation in lymph node as following order of PPD>cinnamaldehyde>isoeugenol>citral. These results suggest that the measurement of the SI in lymph node using BrdU immunohistochemistry could provide a useful method to screen the allergenic potential of chemicals.

검은머리갈색찌르레기 (가칭) Acridotheres tristis의 국내 관찰 기록

2020년 5월 21일과 11월 12일 전라북도 군산시 고군산군도의 방축도(35°51΄1.20˝N, 126°22΄30.30˝E)에서 검은머리갈색찌르레기(가칭, Acridotheres tristis)를 관찰하였다. 2019년 7월 11일 검은머리갈색찌르레기의 관찰기록이 있으며, 이번 관찰은 촬영한 사진을 근거로 검은머리갈색찌르레기의 공식 기록으로 보고하고자 한다. The Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis) was observed in the Bangchuk-do island at the Gogunsan Archipelago, South Korea on 21 May and 12 November 2020. There is an observation record of The Common Myna on 11 July 2019. This is the confirmed report of the Common Myna in the South Korea based on photos.
