Six Pandalid Shrimps of the Genus Plesionika (Crustacea: Decapoda: Caridea) in Korea
2012 Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity Vol.28 No.2
Based on samples collected from the Korean Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) during an investigation of fishery resources by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) from 2002 to 2010, alongside some supplemental material, six species of the genus Plesionika are identified: P. izumiae Omori, 1971, P. ortmanni Doflein, 1902, P. grandis Doflein, 1902, P. lophotes Chace, 1985, P. narval (Fabricius, 1787), and P. orientalis Chace, 1985. Of these, the last four species are new to Korean marine fauna. The distributional range of P. narval extends to the East China Sea off Jeju Island. Excluding P. izumiae and P. ortmanni, the other four species are relatively rare in the seas around Korea. They are described and illustrated with color photographs. A key to the Korean species of Plesionika is also presented.

A single specimen of the pelagic shrimps, Pasiphaea japonica Omori, 1976 (Pasiphaeidae) collected in the southeastern waters of Korea is described and illustrated. Although this species occurs widely in the Indo-West Pacific including the Japanese coast of the East/Japan Sea and the middle and southern parts of the East China Sea, this is the first record of the species and the genus in Korean waters. The species is distinguished from other congeners by the following combination of characteristics: non-carinate dorsal sixth abdominal somite with a terminal tooth, rudimentary pleurobranch on the eighth thoracic somite, merus of the first pereopod with more than eight spines, and almost entirely transparent white color.

Balssaxius habereri (Balss, 1903) has been newly reported in Korean waters. This species was previously known from the Pacific coast of northern Japan, Korea Strait, Yellow Sea, and Japanese coast of the East Sea. Specimens were collected from western Jeju Island using otter trawls at depths of 65–85 m. Regarding Korean axiid shrimps, a single species, Boasaxius princeps (Boas, 1880), previously known as Axiopsis princeps in Korea, has been recorded. B. habereri is easily distinguished from B. princeps as it does not have tufts of setae on its body and males do not have the first pleopod. Morphological descriptions and color photos of the specimens are provided.
Vol.7 No.1
The SSB(Single Side Band) communication in the 27MHz band has mainly been using between fishiery station and small fishing ship less than 101ons, but the most of small fishing ship are depend on cellular system. When accident for small ship at sea happens, It's very important to communicate continuously for preventing the collision and taking action. At present it is hard to control small fishing ship and provide information properly by using 27MHz SSB channel. Therefore in this paper We present TRS communication system applied for small fishing ship to protect the safety and life at sea and to prepare for emmergency, and also validate it's application.
New Records of Two Penaeoid Shrimps (Crustacea: Decapoda) from Korean Waters
2010 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.13 No.4
Two penaeoid shrimps, Hadropenaeus lucasii (Bate, 1881) and Sicyonia truncata (Kubo, 1949), were collected from the northeastern waters of Jeju Island, Korea. These represent the only Korean reports of a member of the genus Hadropenaeus, family Solenoceridae and of a member of family Sicyonidae, respectively. Morphological descriptions and illustrations with a color photograph of each species are given. Korean Penaeoidea presently includes 27 species in three families.

The pandalid shrimp Procletes levicarina (Bate, 1888) was newly collected from the western and southern waters of Jeju Island, Korea. This species is the only known member of the genus Procletes which belongs to the family Pandalidae. Morphological description and illustration with a color photograph of the species are given. With the addition of P. levicarina, the family Pandalidae in Korean waters consists of 10 species belonging to 5 genera.
